SEC Tournament Cancelled

I agree with this. Is it being way overblown? Most likely. But you don't know that for sure. The saying "better safe than sorry" makes sense. It sucks to see all these events being cancelled but at the end of the day, being cautious is smart. But what isn't smart is going into a full blown panic and buying up supplies like a damn zombie apacolypse is about to go down any day now. People still have to live their lives somewhat normally.
I would agree on overreacting by buying toilet paper and water like a cat 6 hurricane is coming. It’s making it hard for people being cautious but still living their lives.

This is the most irrational, media-hyped hysteria I have ever witnessed

I don't think these conferences are getting advice from the media. They are consulting with health professionals, and I think the overall thinking is that events with a large amount of people are not a good idea. In addition, the positive test from 2 NBA players really took it over the top.

For real. Like most people can't just up and quit their jobs and stay inside their home for the next month or 2. It's beyond dickheadish to take more supplies than you realistically need because you're a "doomsday junkie. ".

Because there is a vaccine for the flu, and it doesn't spread as quickly as corona. I think some of this has been overblown. A doctor told me Monday that it is a bit overblown, but he also said that the scary part is that this is not something we have seen before. It's just different than the flu. It is best to be cautious.
I would say be aware but otherwise live as normal. We don’t need to shut down the country or collapse the economy over this

Or maybe temporarily shutting down things to reduce the infection rate keeps the economy from collapsing?

Cancelled -- my cable TV since there is no sports until maybe September

There's always Walking Dead reruns. Which, come to think of it, have been going on since Season 3.

Besides, as Humphrey told Ingrid, "We'll always have NASCAR."

Yet the flu has killed 20,000 this year already. Compared to 1400 worldwide from coronavirus. Unless you have underlying health issues or are elderly your risks are beyond minimal. It would feel flu like for a few days and recover.
What you are seeing is hysteria being built to a fever pitch so that when they release a vaccine the pharmaceutical company makes billions of dollars off of the media hype.

NBA suspending its season. They saw first hand what can happen when a player tests positive. Now, Donovan Mitchell tested positive. It can spread quickly in a team environment.

I get that. That's why I wondered if a tournament player or coach may have had it or if this was getting a step ahead of that
