SEC Tournament - what do you want TN to do?

Assuming TN avoids the bottom 8 which start playing on Wednesday

You still have a game to play until you lose. So with a double bye, winning Friday and Saturday (2-0) puts you in the championship game on Sunday. At that point you want to go 3-0.

Sure you do, but i’d just as soon see them win one game, lose the next and come home.

I suppose caveats would be not losing to Kentucky for a third time (that would suck) or believing a win over FL could very well get you to a one seed for the NCAA (even though that’s a crapshoot because who knows what importance the committee puts on conf tourney games?)

I guess there’s no need to play the regular season either.

College basketball survived without the SEC and other leagues not having conference tournaments for many years. However, I don’t ever recall them bypassing the regular season itself. Maybe you can lead a group to look into seeing how successful it could be. Report back to us what you find out.

Am not gonna answer. Feel like this is a setup. Going to triple check the locks on my door tonight when I go to bed.

Outside of last year, it seems the trend is for the winner of the SEC tourney to make it to the sweet 16

A third of the voters don’t care, but I’ve always really liked the SECT. It was so disappointing when Devoe followed up the 1979 championship with the quick exits. Too bad Elston Turner wasn’t a Vol. It could have changed TN’s history.

If we win the sec tournament we should be the one seed right?
Winning SHOULD make us a #1 seed but it partially depends on what others do. I do believe on some level, the committee has locked in Duke, Houston, and Auburn into 1 seeds no matter what. You could argue that Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee are fighting for the fourth one seed but it may partially depend on what others do also.

Lunardi says whoever goes furthest in the tourney between Bama Florida and Tennessee will be the one seed. Ideally we make the final because that means Bama or Florida has been eliminated.

Did you ever see that Peanuts comic strip where Lucy is holding the football? In this case, Lucy is Lunardi.

I would expect our players to want to win every game that they play. They are competitors. It's in their nature.

Lunardi just wants to watch everyone wear themselves out.

Not really but way to show your age, boomer!

The probability of winning the SECT is much greater that the probability of winning a Natty or even a final 4. Why not go for it. Hanging another SECT championship wouldn’t necessarily be a bad way to remember this season. Don’t get me wrong, I want UT to win it all, but if they stumble in the Tourney, you could at least point to some kind of accomplishment with an SECT championship. Where’s the meme where the little girl says “why not both”
