SEC's Mount Rushmore....by school

Papa Dooley took over UGA in '64 after wally butts retired. He won his 1st SEC title in '66. Followed by championships in '68 '76 '80-'82 with a NC. In the early '80's he peaked in his career and road that success till he retired in '88 with a record of 201-77-10. Back in those days a coach could ride the past success until he decided it was time to hang it up. that's the way it was back then. But times are different now.

Another solid choice. '62 NFL MVP. Played on some great Packers teams.

He was the first player to leave a team for more money. It pissed Lombardi off so bad till he never spoke JT's name again.

You left out Jack Youngblood for your Boys LW.

The first Gator to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame is impressive, but he's on the outside looking in along with Chris Leak, Wilbur Marshall, Dale Van Sickle and Carlos Alvarez.

Who do you eliminate to put JY in?

Tebow - nope
ESmith - maybe, Emmitt's UF teams were mediocre
Wuerffel - nope
Spurrier - hell nope

I would put Dye in AU's list. He laid a lot of ground work for Auburn's ability to buy the best.

An sec title, broke a 9 year streak by the crimson turd, beat a top 5 Heisman winning Ohio State, set many records, need I say more. Oh yeah, he didn't beat Florida, So what he's still a god in this state.

I'll take four individuals that were responsible for National Titles; Manning can go on a nice piece of granite along with Leaf and Couch, though.

So you mean to tell me that a player that has won a championship only deserve high honor? That's BS!! Ted Williams, Dan Marino, Jim Brown, and many other great players that were great players with out winning a championship.

Correct. They were great players; yet, I would not select any of those players as the four best in their respective sports.

If the goal of sports/competitions is to win, then I am going to esteem the greatest winners. Stats are neat but wins and championships are what count at the end of the day.

I agree that the pinnacle of sports is winning a championship. But you can't deny the greatness of a man that didn't win one. A players skill, heart, guts and toughness makes him great. Would you call an average player on a championship team great too?

Even if that's the case, I'd say there are guys more deserving than Tee Martin. He isn't one of the four best UT's ever had. I don't think he was even in the top 4 on the '98 team.

Manning's career at UT trumps Martin's in my opinion.

Credit for UT last national title goes to Al Wilson and the defense moreso than anything Tee Martin did that season.

Clint Stoerner deserves some consideration too. :)

I'd be willing to switch Tee out with Price, Grant, or Henry; I would not be willing to drop Tee for Peyton, though.
