No Peyton and Cut > Fulmer? You're just being argumentative as usual.

Fulmer's winning percentage w/ Cut > Fulmer's record w/out Cut

He's a politic thread guy, what do you expect lol

I do my best to avoid the sports forums during each respective offseason.

Correct. They were great players; yet, I would not select any of those players as the four best in their respective sports.

If the goal of sports/competitions is to win, then I am going to esteem the greatest winners. Stats are neat but wins and championships are what count at the end of the day.

So in your opinion the greatest athletes of all time are Charles Haley and Robert Horry?

Horry is pretty amazing; there are a few teams that do not win championships without him.

Haley was good; not great.

Both of these players accomplished the ultimate goal of competition, though. Manning should go down as one of the best QBs to play in the NFL; however, in college he was no different than Leaf and Couch (in fact, he had more athletic players surrounding him on offense than ether Leaf or Couch).

I understand this is anathema to the deity worship that surrounds everything Manning in Knoxville. He was an incredibly gifted and talented QB; however, he definitely succumbed to high pressure situations during those years.

The top 3 for Tennessee are easy: You have to have Neyland, Majors, and Manning.

But that fourth one? Wilson? Cafego? Atkins? White?

Fuller played for UT and coached them to a national title.

How is Cut more deserving?

Using realUT's logic I should replace Spurrier with Bob Stoops.

Coach Cut was Coach Fulmers Stonewall Jackson. Which means he was his right hand man. When Stonewall went down general Lee said that Jackson lost his left arm I have lost my right.

The same can be said about the relationship between Spurrier and Stoops, Meyer and Mullen, or even Jordan and Pippen. How great could Michael Jordan be....he never won anything without Scottie.

To suggest that Cut deserves more credit than Fulmer is just crazy talk.

I am pretty sure Jordan won a national title without Scottie; Scottie never won anything without Jordan, though.

When Cutcliffe left Fulmer, the Vols, IMO, began their descent; both play-calling and player development on offense suffered, which was followed by less than stellar recruiting classes. When Cut returned, the Vols experienced a quick and material turnaround. Then, Cut left and "Fulmer's Program" fell apart.

Fulmer shoul be celebrated for the heights he took the program to, but he shoul also be burdened with the depths to which the program fell. That, IMO, disqualifies him from being one of the Top Four in the history of Tennessee football.

So if Fulmer retired in 2002, he would get on your rock?

Fulmer presided over the 2nd most successful period in UT's football history.

If championships are the standard, then Chavis deserves more credit than Cut. UT won its last national title primary because of an all-world defense.

Let's list Sewanee since they used to be a member. I'm all ears (and no I'm not Obama).
