September 10, 2024 Presidential Debate Thread. (Insert snarky subtitles here.)

True, a president alone cannot ban fracking but a president along with a compliant congress sure can. Also a president with an out of control bureaucracy can sure make it so unprofitable that fracking is essentially banned.

Do you think it important to recognize that a President can't set tax rates?

Nah, ruins the narrative.

LG acts like he's never seen a government before.

And you act like the day she is sworn in she can make all sorts of decrees, have no rule-making time and bureaucracy to wade through on her own end, and no court challenges tying these things up for years.

On day one of Biden's administration he had the permits for the Keystone pipeline canceled so don't try to sell the BS that she couldn't do anything quickly.

Where did I do that?

I didn't do that, but actually she can. It's called an executive order and she can throw just about any XO out there and then we decide it in the courts (or don't, and just let her do it, which is how XO's usually go).

And that is why his networth is in the billlions and yours is not.
No, that's weak and simply not true. Most people handed a half bill could likely turn it into a billion within their lifetime

You're really sounding like a Q guy. Just don't burn out like aj did

If you are a businessman who can't turn $500M into $4B in 30 years, you should probably pursue a career in reality TV.

Edit: the money and dates aren't right ($413M and he didn't have 30 years before his reality TV career), so I withdraw this snarky comment

No lie….. I’ve seen them in creeks with seines. I’ve seen them with stringers of drum and I watched TWRA bust 10-12 of them at one time for no license

I’ve seen them with guys on each side of the river walking upstream with a net. One time was in a stocked trout stream in Northern Greenville. Another on a river closer to home.

Just a reminder, if you invested 500 million in an S&P 500 index fund 15 years ago, you'd have 4.2 billion now....

It wasn’t important when the media ran “read my lips, no new taxes” no stop for weeks after congress passed new taxes.

Whose fault was that again?
Who should have realized it wasn’t the presidents fault?

Mighty Donald says he's so strong and powerful that he'd stop the Russia/Ukraine war in one day - before he even enters office.

Mighty Donald proffers Orban as proof that he is feared around the globe and that no other nation would dare act against our national interest.

Yet, Mighty Donald crushed, foiled, exposed and utterly flustered by 2 calm, collected, milktoast debate moderators.

Hmmm.

Truth is Donald couldn't debate his way out of a wet paper bag. He's a non-inquisitive dullard of a human being.

It's highly unlikely you would vote for one
When Trump is gone, hopefully GOP turns to some semblance of 'normality'. I've voted GOP in the past and have no qualms doing it in the future *if* they produce a non-insane candidate (for starters).

Normality like Bush, McCain, Romney type?

Plus how can you honestly say Trump is anymore insane than Biden and you would have voted for him, or hell any less insane than Harris?
