The government manufacturing money from thin air to pay for the arms we are giving away or replacing causes inflation. I thought you were an economics guy, increases in the money supply increases inflation.

Monetary supply shenanigan's and 2% inflation targets are one of the problems of 20th century currency. Why not target 1% inflation, for instance? Well, for the same reason a 747 doesn't like to fly across the country at 5,000 feet. Totally possible, but you want a good buffer to react to bad events and breaking zero bounds in currency/aviation is a really bad day for everyone involved.

The coming electronic currencies will end that problem and 0% inflation will not only be achievable, but likely the norm and create a lot of stability. There will be other issues, some exceedingly complex but most of them have to do with simply adapting as humans to that system. There is likely a hybrid system for a while, for instance. It is another of those changes that is happening this century whether governments want it to or not, so a very interesting/profitable time to be alive.

Also, while I am future-casting, I say Trump starts asking for another debate in early October once some of the early vote is in. I don't think he'll be in a bad position, but his team is full of people quick to panic. Not sure if Kamala accepts, but I'd say greater than 50% chance of another debate.
