Shaka Smart=Stan Heath.

I agree.

But it does have a bearing on how we evaluate their coach. Or at least it should, yes?
I'd say two years of middling results in the Colonial is a better place to start the evaluation than two weeks in the NCAA Tournament.

Shaka is more intelligent than almost all of the people dogging him. It is not that close.

Unless you're playing some odd joke on VN with your online persona, I'd give Lawrence Frank a pretty good advantage over you in the brainpower department.

Good point. Who wants a coach that can get his team prepared for big games?
Georgia Tech used that logic. It certainly served them well. Letting one tournament run overshadow season long mediocrity always produces awesome results.

Yea, that's much more important than the March games in the tourney, which don't mean much

Lawrence and I tied on the Wechsler and I pulled ahead on the WJ-III.

He failed to make his Teaneck High School team. I would beat him by 10 in a game to 21. I am not that good at basketball, but he would not be able to get a shot off.

Hire a guy because of one good run. That's a brilliant idea. That's how the Stan Heaths, Paul Hewitts, and Darrin Horns of the world get rich.

That's a really cool story. How does a guy that can't get a shot off score 11 points on you? Maybe you should have those test scores reevaluated.

Yeah, Bruce Pearl's basketball career was pure awesome. I'm expecting him to be in the college basketball hall of fame in 2013 for his 20 points/7 boards/ -5 asst per game (since the assists what we basically averaged in his half court offense as coach).

I'm not sold on Shaka Smart, but he now has a Final Four on his resume, which includes some impressive wins along the way.

I would hire him over some of the names I've seen mentioned.

That's pretty much where I am at

So, hat, have any words to calm down the panic in the Brian Gregory and the 48 hours threads? Because Larry isn't helping. . .
I wouldn't be suicidal if BG were the pick. The 48 hour timeline seems rushed to me. I'm going to make some phone calls after the game is over and see what I can find out.

I know nothing about Brian Gregory, but my few minutes of research have discovered that he failed to live up to his predecessor at Dayton, who was not a good coach. Also, couple Dayton/Vol fans on here want him fired.
