Shaka Smart=Stan Heath.

Bruce Pearl was a significantly more proven coach than Smart is.

Never said Pearl wasn't a more proven coach than Smart. However he had much more significant baggage than Smart which was a risk.

Angus- CAA is a tough bball conference just doesn't have football.

Everybody is looking at the flavor of the month. That's why we call them the flavor of the month. What's hard about that?

They are respected baskeball schools who have him as a serious candidate. If these schools actually think he is just a flavor of the month you don't look at him as a serious candidate. What is so hard about that?

everyone is looking for a quick fix and his team just happens to still be playing after barely making the tourney.

Ga. Tech also paid Paul Hewitt $7 Mil just to leave so...

Rick Byrd is a quick fix & no team just happens to still be playing in the sweet sixteen.

You're talking about 3 games. You don't hire someone based on three games that they shouldn't have even been given the opportunity to have played in the first place.

Just because hat said it doesn't make it true. VCU belonged in the tourney just as much as any other bubble team. The field is now 68.

Yes according to Bilas and Dickie V. They would have only ACC teams in the tourney.

Only 3 games huh? That rules out all asst. coaches as candidates then. You are throwing out his 2yrs of regular season coaching experience. How many games does he have to coach?

I agree he is a sexy name now but I'm just saying also a candidate with big potential upside that needs to be looked at seriously as well.

Look at his regular season coaching experience. It's at best, underwhelming. It's not erased by 3 games to me, but maybe it is to you.

Obviously, these schools don't look at him as flavor of the month. But that doesn't mean he isn't. Far-sightedness is not given to everyone, not even to all respected basketball schools.

North Carolina State has hired Les Robinson and Sidney Lowe in recent history. Mizzou hired Quin Snyder. Georgia Tech gave Paul Hewitt a trillion dollars to lose in the ACC. If that's the folks who like Smart, I'm glad we're moving in the other direction.

Good enough to get them into the tourney. (And for those saying he had the most talent in the conference: Skeen was second team all-conference, Rodriguez was third team. Best player -- last year's defensive player of the year -- went pro, forgoing his senior season.)

Some on here will not commit to wanting a candidate until their 'dad' rules on the subject.

Then they will all fall in line.:good!:

Way to avoid the whole issue.

But seriously, I've not seen much bandwagoning on here. Some like Smart, some don't. Some like Grant, some don't. Some like Marshall, some don't. Some like Frank, some don't.

And it's not splitting along the same lines every time. Seems most fans who follow closely are doing independent thinking. JMO.
