Shame on you Lady Vol "Fans" SHAME ON YOU

Give them the talent Holly has had and maybe those stats change.

I don't think either are better but I sure do think Dawn Staley is a better coach

Give those coaches the talent Holly has and those stats change in your eyes, which would imply that they're better coaches....but in your next paragraph you don't think they're a better coach than Warlick...I'm confused!

You bunch of people on this message board have no clue.Boy it's easy to rip a coach and her players apart. We have the right coach and we will soon have more players ready to step up. There is a reason why uconn has stepford players and that Geno and how he recruits. I don't like to use the word cheats but hey if the shoe fits. Let's not help other schools get good players from us because we can't back our players and trust our coach's.

I did watch the game and could not believe the last six minutes!' Wow!! A lot of grit and heart. We have a lot of talent and we did finally show that.

I will always support this team but would like to see us not struggle so much. We have lost some of our players to injury and I must say we are hanging in there.

Lets just take a deep breath and support this team. If all goes right we will have a great team again next year.

Sure would like to beat Gino!!

Mitchell has had what, 8 years to get the talent of UK up to the talent level we have and he has failed to do so. According to your own criteria, he must suck as a coach because he hasn't done anything outstanding. So which is it? Nobody gives you the players. You go out and get them and he hasn't gotten them so.....

Sounds like someone inhouse is trying to screw the Lady Vols. This program has been just as important to the University of Tennessee as the boys' program. This is outrages and no way to treat the legacy of Pat and the foundation she has set in place.

My point exactly! I became a fan of the lady Vols the moment Holdsclaw stepped on campus and have loved the Vols since then! Pat has set a standard and being ordinary is something I will never accept as a fan of the Lady Vols. It is no way we should be down 17 to a number 11 seed regardless if it is like a home game to them. It is no excuse not to make adjustments, call timeouts, utilize players who may be able to provide a spark and remove players that aren't getting it done. Great coaches have done that and far too often Holly seems to be just happy to be there instead of demanding better. You can call it what you want but for most of this game she was out coached and some of you can sit and pretend like she wasn't but the fact of the matter she was. You do not have your undersize post playing behind 6'4/6'5 post when you're in a zone, you have them fronting the post and forcing them to pass over the top with the help of the double team on the backside. You have 2 extra bodies (6'3 and 6'2 Dunbar and Moore) on the bench who you could have possible used if for nothing else to spell a player like Burdick who had given all she could give or to hit a few 3's (Dunbar) to get you back in the game (and if we know nothing at all about Dunbar we know she suffers from the never seen a shot she hasn't like syndrome she will shoot the ball and will not think twice about it). I'm sorry if demanding excellence from a team/organization who in my opinion established what excellence is isn't too much to ask. People wonder why Uconn and Geno are so great and it is because Geno isn't settling for nothing but the best from his players, if you can't do what he is asking of you, you will sit and it doesn't matter if you are the best player in the country. I will never apologize for demanding that we maintain the standard set. I want to get back to the days when teams feared playing the Lady Vols like teams fear playing UConn! I hope this game opens the eyes of Holly and the players moving Forward. I am proud of our girls and Holly for pulling it out in the end and I hope we can do the same Monday as it would be big for the program moving forward. A few of the 2016 recruits could potentially be moving us to the top of their list with a final 4 appearance and a decent showing/upset of Uconn.

Please keep it real. There is no way , no how the Lady Vols even stay within 20 points of UConn. That's IF they get past Maryland. Personally I think they lose to Maryland without Harrison. With Harrison I think it would be a good game. However, next season I think the Lady Vols should be able to compete with any team in the country, including UConn. If not, I will have serious questions about our coaching staff. I hope Holly is the coach for a long time but if we are all realistic, the Lady Vols are not as relevant as they once were.

Let's not get carried away until the Lady Vols turn a profit. Currently they are subsidized by the men's football and basketball programs. While they obviously have a better program than men's basketball it's all about the mighty dollar.

I understand it is all about money and realize football is king, but how does men's basketball subsidize the women's basketball program? They hardly bring in 1,000 to 2,000 more fans. We have more fans for women's games than most programs have for their men. I agree with football, but do not see how men's basketball is keeping the women afloat.

Are we talking revenue here? The last report I saw had men's football pulling in nearly half of the revenue. Men's basketball was around 9-10% and women's basketball was at around 6%. Football was the most profitable with the lady vol basketball program running even at best and more often than not losing money annually. If we're talking wins, I will concede that point. Given that the women simply don't bring in the money, I think their budget is quite reasonable if not downright generous. If you have current numbers to contradict my memory, I'm certainly anxious to see a link.

At one point, I think they also were getting $1 mil from student fees as well. Only sport to receive such money if memory serves. Let's get real...title 9 is forced support in the name of "equality".

Reading the game thread, i have never been more appalled at the comments of Lady Vol "Fans." Your bashing of our players, our coach, and our team was appalling. You are NOT Tn "fans." Rooting and hoping for us to lose so you can "justify" Holly as a bad coach is the epitome of disgust.

What say you know??

TN has 30 wins and in an elite 8. The entire sports world sees how great a job holly has done. Your vitriolic hate saddens me and it's a disgrace to our program, to our school, and to Pat Summit and the legacy she built.

please, please... please GO AWAY.

I think you need to relax.

Sorry but your facts are off. Men's basketball averaged almost 16,000 per home game this season. I think that's about 4,000-5,000 more than the LV's. In addition, men's tix are more expensive.

Players, play and coaches, coach. Coaches can't execute the plays, make the shots, or defend the other team. The fact that we were down by a significant margin late in the game and came back and won tells me that Holly is doing a pretty good job. She didn't panic and kept the team together. Most teams would have thrown in the towel at that point, but she kept the team motivated and focused for an eventual comeback win. Holly's problem is she was the unlucky coach that followed a coaching legend in Coach Summitt. She's not as good as Pat was, but who is besides Geno? She's doing well and has had to deal with significant injuries along the way, including her best overall player. Just wait till next year when Diamond is eligible to play and all y'all bashing her will be singing her praises. Just my opinion and not meant to offend anyone. GO Vols!
That's another thing that some don't seem to understand. We haven't had that player that consistently carried the team on her shoulders, that go to player. Diamond is that player we hope. We had Candace and Holtzclaw, etc. they carried the team when they got down. We had a player this year that blew her MCL which has hurt them with teams like South Carolina. People just need to chill and enjoy Holly building a new Lady Vols team.

Didn't realize the price differential. Using last year's men's numbers the Lady Vols would be ranked around 38th. Above Texas and UConn men.

Also Tennessee is one of the few schools that can actually charge a substantial price for women's basketball tickets. Go to most any other school and $5 - $10 gets you in the door.

One last point.

I can concur that football and maybe men's basketball subsidizes women's sports, but if we are going to stick with that narrative then it means that they also subsidize men's baseball, men's swimming, men's diving, men's tennis, and men's track and field.

As a member of the BOT at UT told me: "Football floats all boats in this University."

Title IX is a law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.

Put another way, if you pay to fund an activity, you cannot be prohibited from participating in that activity based upon your gender.

Let's be real. The Elite 8 of WBBall is like honestly being ousted in the first round of the men's tourney. There isn't any team worth talking about that DOESNT make it out of the Elite 8 in women's basketball

The reality is that we're failing on the recruiting front year by year and without the supreme talent pool of recruits we'll continue to die slowly as a powerhouse because without those top5 type players we defintely won't be able to rely on amazing coaching

And even when we get a greatly touted recruit it seems we get the one that's overhyped and severely lacking.
