This from Rob Lewis, someone asked him about these rumors...

I've heard a little chatter about that but IMO he's not remotely close to being in the same league as Nichols or Williams III, guys I would call prime targets at the forward spot.*
I never got the impression that Tennessee was in love with him in the first place after the new staff got here last spring.

I suppose they might reach out if he opens things up but I wouldn't think they would fall all over themselves to do it unless it looks like they might miss out on several others.

Not sure I agree with Lewis with Hale not being in the same league. He obviously know's more but I wonder if he's grading talent like the rest do....The kid comitted to Bama pretty early and doesn't really play the same level of comp. as the other West TN kids. Obvious you pretty much fall off the radar when you verbal like that but does anyone know if he's played in any tournaments lately?

I agree with you, don't think he worded that accurately. Hale may not be as good as Nichols, but he's defintely in the same league as him. Like you said people stop watching when you've committed a lot of times.

I don't think CCM would be calling every day if he wasn't in the "same league" as Nichols.

okay, here is the latest. Shannon just text me a few minutes ago and said Coach Martin is trying to flip him within the next 48 hours. He said Martin is selling the point on coming and playing with a top 10 recruit (Hubbs). And coming in with a very talented group. Shannon said him and his dad are having a sit down today and he will make a decision before too long.

Which settles the Hubbs debate.

I wish Hubbs would go ahead and make it official!

mini-boom?

Always, assuming you aren't trolling (and I believe you aren't), I do appreciate the info, but don't ask him too much. Make sure he has his space. :hi:

I'll say it again: I believe Hubbs committed to the staff, he wanted to wait and tell Coach K when he got back, and someone on the staff got too excited and leaked it.

I hope you're right! Hubbs seems like a really good kid.

I know K is busy right now, but what would prevent Hubbs from being able to have a 15 min phone convo with him? Your opinion? Because I can't think of one other than Hubbs wanting to gives K a chance to flip him.

Two things:

1) Coach K is kinda really super busy.

2) From all accounts, Hubbs is a great kid with immense respect for Coach K. So I think it's either A) Wants to tell him in person or B) Wait till he gets back to the States and has a little more free time. C) He feels that right now he's on a different job, and wants to wait till he gets back to his normal job to tell him.

And it's not like Hubbs is on a ticking clock. If UT's coaches know he's committed, that's good enough for me. Making it public is only benefit to the fans to generate excitement. That will come in time. If he is waiting to tell K, and he respects his obligations to the US team, that is a classy move IMO.
