Shooter in Chattanooga

No westboro didn't show up to the memorial, but there are reports that they are in Chattanooga in the town of East Ridge. Some have speculated they are waiting for the date and time fore Staff Sgt. David Wyatt's funeral at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Actually that's exactly what it means since you never know who might be beaten next. I didn't realize rights were so conditional now

You know, with a post like this it's a true shame you're a mod on here. Thankfully, you don't represent the whole with your lack of respect to our fallen soldiers. I think Vollygirl has more guts, personally.

Any disrespect you find is being manufactured in your own head. It shows you simply don't understand my statement

US soldiers have fought for 200+ years to protect unpopular speech. Trying to undo that could also be viewed as a sign of disrespect (although not my claim either)

What on Earth?? He's not disrespecting anybody and I'd bet that he finds the situation as deplorable as you do.

As Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith fought for his life at Erlanger hospital, the floor stayed busy with military officials and politicians who came to pay respects.

But none could provide the same role a coach could.

As Gov. Bill Haslam passed by the window, Smith's wife, Angie, flagged him down.

There is something you can do, she told the governor: Find Coach K.

What a busy week in Chattanooga, my guard unit has been housing the Navy during the investigation going on at the reserve center. But the one thing I can say about the Navy and Marines in this area. They are the true embodiment of the warrior ethos and true professionals.

I went and stood on Holtzclaw on the day of Staff Sgt. Wyatt's funeral, and I must say it was my pleasure to stand in the the hot sun and pay my undying respects to Wyatt and his family and friends and coworkers. I have friends and family in different branches of the military, so I deeply appreciate what they do for our country. It will also be my pleasure again to once again stand in the hot sun with thousands of people and pay my respects to Petty Officer Randall Smith on Tuesday. Semper Fi Sgt. Wyatt, and Fair Winds and Following Seas PO Smith.

"My family has been overwhelmed by the amazing love and compassion Chattanooga has for David and our family. All five of these young men are now the faces of a true America Hero. Yesterday's funeral procession made our broken hearts fill with such pride, we had tears streaming down our faces, but we saw you do too. To stand in the heat for so long, the logistics of everyone being in place, and the show of respect for the fallen, no words will ever be good enough. We entered this city over a week ago so mad, scared, and heart broken. We are leaving Chattanooga feeling so full of love and admiration for the people of your town. Your town doesn't shake hands, you give hugs. Life will never be the same for the families or for the city of Chattanooga, but Chattanooga is showing the United States what American pride looks like. We fall and we rise and we stand together for our country, shoulder to shoulder, hands on our hearts, waving our beautiful Stars and Stripes. We will heal together. We will return to this special place many times to visit our brother and we know we will always be welcome, thank you"....The Family of SSgt. David Wyatt

And from his mother:

My name is Deborah Boen, mother of David Wyatt. I wanted to reach out to thank the city of Chattanooga for their graciousness and outpouring of love to our family and friends of my son.

Even in our sorrow, we feel that God is blessing us with the outpouring of love from this community.

We cried all the way to the cemetery and were in awe of all who stood in the hot sun to honor our son and all the fallen heroes. We saw it all, and felt all the love showered upon us.

I want to thank also the management and staff of the Hampton Inn North on Weir Way. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such kindness and compassion. Our rooms were appointed with gift baskets, many cards from the community, and the staff has made our sad stay very comfortable.

The city of Chattanooga will have my son forever, and what a wonderful place for his eternal rest.

I pray for our nation, and I pray that someday we can all live in peace. Nooga Strong, yes you are. I am swelled with pride. Our family will never forget all your love and graciousness.

Geez, I didn't think I would come here and shed tears reading these. My heart aches for these families and friends and what happened in Chatt. Anything we could possibly do for these families, I feel sure in saying that the community will provide for them.

Also Port Angeles, the city Chatt beat out for best town, sent 20 banners full of condolence messages for our city and presented them to the mayor. I have such pride for how the people of this nation have responded to this tragedy

I know there has to be a charity or an organization that is helping the Navy at this time. the city is amazing, I had a random person pay for my haircut yesterday. I know most of my unit has been thanked ever day.
