That is some kind of death wish
They threatened the same thing when Senior Airman Benjamin White from Erwin was killed in Afghanistan. And allegedly were told "you might want to rethink that idea because this is East Tennessee."
They never showed.
Westboro (won't call them a church) talks a lot of **** about which places they are going. But as cowards typically do, they back off when the danger gets to be too high. And you don't come into East Tennessee starting that kind of trouble without one or two locals taking matters into their own hands.
I have been reading that Westboro is going to show up at the Lee Highway location at 9 this morning. We will see if they show.
There is some video of a guy there last night preaching and protesting. Not sure if he was with Westboro but the guy pushed a cop during his protest and got arrested.
I heard the guy was there the night before also, not Westboro, and in the video it sounds like he's calling the police officer the n word. Somebody said he also spit at him. Scum.
When I was stationed in California, Westboro came to a street just down the road from the military installation that I worked at. There was about 10 of them protesting the use of drones or unmanned aircraft. We were told not to interfere because if something happened it could really bruise the military image in the community. However, they could not stop our spouses from getting involved. About 30 - 40 spouses lined the opposite side of the street with God Bless the USA signs and a lot of pro freedom/military stuff. Then, the cops told them, that they didn't have to be on the opposite side of the street as long as they didn't get physical, so the wives/husbands joined the westboro protesters standing in front or side by side, taunting them, questioning them, blocking them from being seen. The protest lasted about 30 minutes and the Westboro people trickled away quietly.
I heard in Arkansas that some locals found the hotel where the Westboro people were staying and parked in the entrance to block them in during the time a military funeral was occurring. The owner of the hotel conveniently was not able to be reached for complaints and local taxi cab companies "got lost" when they were called to the hotel.
So if you disagree with someone's views you should threaten them with guns and/or violence? Interesting
I didn't say what they were doing was right. I just said it sounded about right for some of the people in this area. As much as I disagree with Westboro's ideals they have just as much right to be there protesting as other people do to morn the loss of these great Marines. As long as they do it peacefully.
