Shopping for women - A Grand Rant

And Europeans do Christmas up right. It's a big deal over there from the holiday standpoint rather than the shopping experience we're used to.

The Balkins don't. And it's not a big deal. Albanians are predominantly Muslim.

My "shopping" for my wife is over. We pooled our gift money for each other and bought a flat screen for the bedroom, and I'm refinishing a dresser for her. "Shopping" done.

Simple answer. Never .....buy.......clothes. Always jewelry or a weekend away. This is coming from a man married for 12 years with 4 kids.

For my birthday, I went on thumbtack and hired a cleaning lady for 8 hours. My wife works at a hospital with crazy hours and was getting frustrated with the house.

I was nervous about it at first, but short of her engagement ring, she's never been more pleased with a gift.

Nahh, vacuum cleaners, kitchen gadgets/appliances and stuff like that. You know stuff she can use :)

BTW, easily the best gift I ever got my wife was a piece of art. I commissioned my sister (she does watercolor) to make a 4-panel cartoon of us for the kitchen. It's like a total of 16" x 24". She cried and cried when she opened it. Best $120 I ever spent, and I stayed out of the stores that Christmas, too.

I've got the girlfriend to email me links. She gets what she actually wants and I have no hassle. Works great.

Don't buy clothing. Even if you get the size right you will screw up the color or style. Stick with jewelry or purses she's into. Spa treatments always go over well. And to the poster who hired a cleaning service, you sir are a genius and just made my Christmas shopping done!

Stole your idea, hope the misses likes it.

Buy her a new vacuum cleaner, deep fryer, electric skillet, toaster oven and a bottle of perfume and some lingerie. You will never see the lingerie, she'll moap around whining a few days, but she will smell good, your carpets will stay clean and she will prepare you some good meals.

You can thank me later :hi:
