Should butch do it?

Worley looked much more at ease when he came in off the bench the second half of the gator game. With Peterman out, more than likely he doesn't feel as much pressure to perform. He seemed to play better being more comfortable. If he comes out loose for the usa game, he will put up big numbers until a freshman gets reps.

If playing better means 10-23 for 150 2 ints then you are very optimistic. Worley is not very good, hopefully one of the freshmen can take his job. If not were not going to a bowl.

Why does everyone think it's Fergy? I'm talking beyond the partisanship of liking one or the other. I haven't really read anything that gives us much info. on either of them and where they are right this minute.

The only thing that I've got to think Fergy over Dobbs is that Dobbs' major makes him a more logical redshirt. However, I'm not so sure that's going to figure into a coaching decision. I also feel like Fergy is more apt to leave if he doesn't get a shot since again Dobbs chose us for the major and baseball whereas there's a lot less holding Fergy here if he becomes disgruntled. But again, I'm not so sure that that matters to the coaches since those are all human aspects rather than football aspects and of course, for all we know Fergy may be happy as can be and Dobbs stewing about starting. We just don't know on these matters.

So what's the rationale for Fergy over Dobbs right now? Personally, I don't have any clue. I expected Worley to start at UF and was shocked that Peterman won the start.

Every story ive read said that Ferguson is ahead of Dobbs. Ferguson also has the bigger arm.

they would know that based on what he does at practice... if he was play maker he would have started over Peterman last week but he hasn't shown to be better than him, yet

Peterman had a melt down. Maybe ferguson can handle the pressure.

With all the great minds on here and theie knowledge of QB problems and that we are slowly getting better and with Peterman for sure not the answer and Worley not looking like the answer should Butch pick one of the true freshman and let him get game experience and have ready for the next 3 yrs.

Why in the hell do you people want to give up on this season?

Don't you want UT to be in a Bowl Game?

I do!!! Even if it is 6-6 and in the Belk/Kohls Loser Bowl. I don't care I want UT in a Bowl Game!!!

There is plenty of time to groom a QB for the 2014 Season!!!

lol, and 99% of you guys complained about Dooley throwing the players under the bus..lol you guys keep turning around to hit them again and again..

No and hell no!!! He needs to play the QB that gives them the best chance of winning THIS YEAR 2013!!!!

I'm not sure we should definitely assign Peterman to the ash heap of history based on his first half ever of meaningful snaps against the best defense in the country. I wish he had gotten the start against Austin Peay. Worley's just bad, and although Peterman is worse right now, I still have to believe he has more upside --I hope. I'm not sure Worley will ever get any better.

Maybe a freshman can save the day.

Do you remember Crompton the year before Kiffin got a hold of him? Night and Day--- he was getting death threats one year, and then when he was coached up he was significantly better. No Peyton manning, mind you but a decent quarterback who was even given a shot in the NFL. Sometimes to reach one's full potential, there just has to be someone to believe in you and work with you-- and it may take a few weeks..or months. I thought that Worley performed a lot better in the second half at Florida and it is just not fair to put all the blame on him for the Oregon game. He and his receivers need to just find some rythym and chemistry. But I believe that they should be developing all of the quarterbacks. Depth is never a bad thing and as a freshman it is a plus to have some time learning before you are actually thrown into the game.

Not enough conjunctions in this post

I do trust the coaches.

But how many times have you seen a back-up QB be forced into a game and he turns out to be THE GUY? No one -- not even the coaches -- knew it, because for some guys the switch never flips on until they are in a real game. I think that's what all of us are hoping for.

It's sort of like buying a lottery ticket and expecting to win. But considering our QB play so far this season, you can't blame fans for hoping. We're desperate for a miracle.

I agree in every case except one: Whenever our Volunteers play against a backup, we end up making him look like a Heisman Trophy contender.

LSU in 2001 SEC Championship Game and last week against Florida are examples that jump out at me. We have - unfortunately - made this a tradition.

That sure is a long sentence.

we are not going bowling and no QB on our roster is going to be able to make it happen. you can't depend 20 freshman (be more if one of them QBs takes over) and 9 walk-ons and go bowling..

Peterman had a melt down. Maybe ferguson can handle the pressure.

if no one has noticed, in the last two games the QBs had tremendous pressure applied by the other team. The QBs were pressured the entire game. I have re-watched both and that was present.

if you throw a true freshman out there and that continues, they will get injured. they are just thinking slower because they have not seen speed like what will be coming after them.

Go back and watch the Oregon and Florida games at the QB pressures..

I think Worley ends up being better than most on here suspect he can. I see glimpses of greatness at times in him. I believe Butch and this coaching staff can pull greatness out of him on a consistent basis. They've only played 4 games together. It took Bray and company 3 years to pit it together, and they still couldn't do it against great defenses. Relax folks. Brick by brick!

I don't think Butch is anxious to have a repeat of last Saturday with a freshman at the controls.. his best chance to win ball games is not with a freshman.. neither of these kids could push Peterman for # 2..

Now, if either get a chance tomorrow to play some reps, fans are going to likely get all giddy for them to play more. But the difference in S Alabama and SEC schools is like High School and NFL..
Don't say stuff like this with Bruin lurking. We will try to pick your words to death and question your knowledge. :p

If we were to suffer an upset loss this weekend we won't win another game this yr....the QB situation is too precarious right now...and it sucks!!!!

Butch knows more about the freshmen then the posters here ever will. The grass is not always greener outside the frying pan...or something like that...
Pete Carroll said Matt Leinart wasn't much of a QB in practice, but for some reason...when the lights come on, his game came on as well. Some players look good to the coaches on the practice field, but look like poo on game day. I'm thinking Worley falls into the latter one. I hope he can have a big turn around like Crompton did, but I've got a sick feeling in my gut that he won't and the staff are just too damn scared to play a freshman.

Butch said in an interview, recently, that with the freshman, there are unknown's. To that, I reply..."EXACTLY!!!" And you won't ever know unless you put them out on the field, especially in games like this! He left Munchie Legaux stay in as the starter, last year, until about the midway point, until he finally got benched in favor of Kay. Kay played much better, and had a higher completion percentage to prove it.

You simply don't know from just limited practice reps. CBJ has said this many times....problem is, he ain't following his own advice. Tomorrow would be the perfect opportunity....TO KNOW (what you got), and to get valuable game experience, by letting one of the freshmen play the whole 2nd half. And at least a few drives with the 1st unit.

Yes because any QB who has better receivers should instantly be favored. Funny how McCarron has played his entire career with sh!tty receivers and kicked butt in the passing department, while gunslinger Bray melted.

Truth is hard. McCarron over Bray hands down.

Also the Kentucky WR turning into QB in 2011. He wasn't great, but he still beat us even though the team had given up on Dooley.
