Should you only be a fan of one school?

I have a friend that's a Tennessee football fan and a Kentucky basketball fan, he had the nerve to tell me (talking about Tennessee basketball) "y'all suck"! I don't know how "we" transists to "y'all" then back to "we".....

Your "friend" needs to be banned from the great state of Tennessee and asked to stop supporting or being associated with the fine University of Tennessee in any way.

I don't see how an alum of a school could be a fan of another school in conference.I am a UT alum and dislike all other Sec schools especially UF and KY. I like some schools in other conferences like ACC in round ball but would never wear their colors. Just one alums opinion

the biggest d-bag i have ever met is an Alabama football fan and Kentucky basketball fan. he lives in Nashville and went to Western Kentucky (so obviously a bandwagon jumper). it was my opinion before I met the guy that anyone that picked different schools to support is a giant d-bag. my opinion was justified the day i met him. and being the giant d-bag that he is, im sure he is currently reminding everybody of what a big WKU fan he is now that they are in the tournament.

I grew up in Lville so I pull for them too - not to the degree i pull for the Vols but they rarely ever cross paths so it really doesnt present a problem

It does for me this year. My gal is ALL VOL. I had converted her to rooting for Mizzou, but since they are in the SEC now. Lets just say I'm the 1st person in Knoxville that got a house divided license plate last Christmas.

The only reason why I kind of like OSU is because I live near columbus and my family are huge buckeye fans. However, I LOVE the state of Tennessee, there is just something about the University of Tennessee that I really love, something I can't find at another school. I started following Tennessee in 2005 (I was 11 at that time and am now 18) but was a much bigger buckeye fan because of my family ties. But around 2007, I started becoming a very huge volunteer fan...bigger than OSU and now I'm hardly an OSU fan...I pay attention to them, but I mainly get into Tennessee now. So long story short, I have family ties to OSU, I love the state of Tennessee and the university and their my #1 favorite team. I like the reds...well...just because, I don't really know. I just like the city of cincinnati. 2nd favorite team after the vols.

Look up true fan in the dictionary and you see Obsessedvol's pic there.

Nice post.

I am a UK basketball fan
Alabama football fan
Dallas Cowboys Fan
Yankee Fan
Lakers Fan
Red Wings Fan
what is the name of that one really good soccer team in the UK...yeah that one I'm a fan of theirs as well

Go team bandwagon

I hate to break it to you, but the Cowboys bandwagon is far from a fun ride. I wouldn't say many people have jumped on after one playoff win in over a decade. But hey, I love em.

I am a Kentucky fan - basketball, football, rifle, chess...

I cheer for a few professional teams (Predators, Titans, Astros) but I will only have 1 college team - hell, there have been times I wish I could change but it's in my DNA. 4/4 grandparents have degrees from UK as do both my parents. I went to UK as well...there is just no shaking that kind of thing.

You can always hope that someone in that inbred clan will eventually marry an outsider and give the family a prayer of having a kid who can get into another school. It isn't likely, but there is a chance.

You can be a fan of as many schools as you'd like. Personally, I am a fan of 116 out of the 120 BCS schools in addition to a handful of other FBS and FCS institutions.

EDIT: :good!::good!: to your brother-in-law.

I cannot root for any other BigTen team, and I find it especially hard to want anything good for um. My dad gets chemo at the um hospital, but that is about all that I tolerate out of that place.

I have always been the same way about the SEC also. I went to UF, Ive been a Gator since. . . about the age of 8. (considering I grew up in Michigan, that was not always easy to accomplish)

I was lucky most of the time because MSU and UF rarely ran into each other. And then the 2000 NCAA Basketball game, and then the 2001(?) Citrus Bowl, and a couple of run-ins at the NCAA Tourney, it got tough for a while. I was still pretty lucky because it almost always meant more for one school's PROGRAM, than it did for the others, so I could pick a side, and then just be miserable for the entire experience.

And then my daughter needed to pick a school. She applied to 3 (MSU UF UT) and was accepted to 3. She was offered a spot in the Honors college at all 3, and offered essentially a full academic scholly at all 3 (Hope Scholly+others at UT)

Her choice came down to
1) The school she has always loved, and dreamed of attending, which is now 8 hours from where her family lives

or

orders) The school that was only an hour+ away from her family's new home. And still a very good academic choice in her major.

Im glad she took option 2. and Im enjoying it 100%. Was just in Knoxville over the weekend to see her Good times.

But if I didnt have a kid at UT, I would not be a fan. Nothing against any of you, or your school, that's just the way things work out. You have me for all but one weekend every fall, and 2 games+ in the winter.

Congrats on your daughters accomplishments. My brother deplores um also, but has always argued Big 10 over SEC. Hes a lawyer so I ignore him.

Can't be a fan of multiple SEC teams, that is just ridiculous.

While I attended UT for a few semesters, I didn't graduate from there but my blood does run orange.

I'm a UTC alumni so I also cheer for the Chattanooga Mocs and try to attend a few games a year.

I'm in grad school at Georgia State and while I can't say I have attended a game, I do check their scores and hope they win.

I'm definitely not as loyal of a professional sports fan even though I watch just about everything.

It's all about the VOLS. I will never support anyone else. The only other team I kind of track is Cal because of AR12's ties. But I don't cheer them on really!

If I had got into US sports as a whole when I discovered the VOLS, I would probably support all the teams from Tennessee. It didn't work out that way though...

VOLS
Carolina Hurricanes
Miami Heat
LA Dodgers
Green Bay Packers
Romford Raiders

a lot of it is how you grow up, dad was a big vol fan, i remember listening on the radio every saturday and watching the bill battle show on sunday. i also remember having to hold the radio antenna just right for dad to listen to the St. Louis cardinals at night, we would tune them in about every night......to this day i love the vols and st. louis cardinals.

This should be the rule: Only one team per sport you can be a fan of, UNLESS you have immediate family attending another school. Easy enough right?

Fans of different schools for different sports make me sick. When I first read the title my answer was HELL NO! But i guess if you went to both schools/have connections with both schools that would be understandable. As for me, I'm Tennessee all the way everyday
