No one should be surprised that we are 6-3 right now. We started off the season with a good Xavier team on the road. We shouldn't have played that game as our first game. Not surprising we lost.

You can forget that the second loss was to UTEP. We weren't going to win the B4A tourney not with Iowa and Kansas in the field. The goal was a 2-1 record which was achieved.

The Wichita St loss...did anyone really expect us to go on the road and beat an undefeated Top 10 team that was in the Final Four last year?

So we are 6-3 and the next four games are must wins at home. Lose any and we will be on the bubble once again.

So basically, what you are saying is that you accept being mediocre and we all should too. Typical UT fan. Just be mediocre to pretty good and ho hum be happy.

Well that just won't cut it. Pearl showed us what this program could be with the right coach. This program should EXPECT and DEMAND to beat those kinds of teams, not EXPECT and settle for losing to them.

Without demanding more from our athletic department, and holding it accountable, guess what, we'll never get it.

I disagree OP. This team is loaded with talent and experience. They should have came out of the gate and stomped Xavier. Maybe a loss to KU and WSU, but that is the absolute max in the failure department IMO.

Just making the tourney should NOT be acceptable for this team. Way to many weapons to be mediocre.

There was a time a few years back when we looked forward to playing not just top ten teams, but number ones and twos. Now we are reduced to scheming how winning two games in the losers bracket is a good thing, losing to a #12 in one poll and an #8 in another poll and we have people making excuses saying we had no chance to win the game. Sadness

Agree. This team has no desire to be good. They play flat every game.

I am becoming annoyed with posters that criticize others when they try and be positive or even realistic with our programs. The "typical UT fan" part did not set well with me because I consider myself a "typical UT Fan. I love my team and University. I support all athletic programs regardless of wins and loses. I do not make a point to publicly bash our players or coaches, and I would rather lose every game as a VOL than win every game as any other fan.

There is more to being a Tennessee Vol than winning and losing.

LOOK AT HOW WE GOT THE NAME.

I have no beef with you personally 87. I see you as family also (as long as your a Vol). I also want a great team just like you, but the complaining is not going to change anything. If it makes you feel better then that's under your control, but a minority of this fan base give the majority a bad rap from being so negative towards our teams.

Get off your high mule and go coach the Vol's then. Quit *****ing and demanding and go do. Pissing and moaning get's you no where. Be a man of action and go coach the team.

This is just like a lot of the football post, trying to accept being bad by writing how good the competition is.
I for one want Tennessee to be one of the teams OTHERS refer to when they come up with an excuse for a loss, "they were a really good team".

To do that we must get a real coach. Football? maybe we have. B ball, not so much.

No one's surprised that we have 3 losses already, just disappointed.
What should be a very dynamic team that can compete with anyone, even on the road, is anything but.

I'm just surprised you wrote this many sentences without the word "clown" in it. Hell must be frigid right now.

To hear some of these posters make excuses is sad. Perhaps we should ask the NCAA if they would abandon keeping scores on games played because we have fans who don't care if we win or not?
Show me a good loser and I will show you a loser not only in sports, but life in general.

Some of us just understand there's more to life than watching others play games. I know someone who's happiest day of her life (her words, not mine) was when Peyton announced he was coming back. Not her wedding day, not when her kids or grandkids were born, but that day. If you don't think that's pathetic, you need to reevaluate your life.

Do we want them to win? Absolutely we do. However, we also understand there's more. Again, I have enjoyed not seeing multiple players in the news for drugs, filing serial numbers off guns, etc etc. Shows maturity and positively reflects everything about the University.

Well, you've got to admit "clown" is pretty appropriate. But, really, Martin would fit someplace like Missouri State, or Northern Illinois. He's just not major college material and not what we need.

Why even have an athletics program then? If that were everyone's mindset then we might as well close down the shop.

I just looked at the TDD: Wichita St heading and it showed some pictures of the game. Did anyone else notice that at the 14:09 mark the score was TN 11 Wichita st 13
but at the
15:12 mark the score was TN 9 Wichita St 14.
How did wichita St lose a point?
How did that happen ?

A shot that was first scored as a three was changed back into a two-pointer.
