Shouldn't we be concerned?

I heard CDD's press conference I also heard him say we would still pursue players outside that radius.

Jesse Williams
Shaq Thompson
Noah Spence
Danny O'brien
Brendan Bigelow
Hayes
Arnett

Those are just a few that we've offered and pursued.

As I said in my posts -- the fact we have a regional recruiting strategy doesn't mean we won't recruit any national recruits. No one ever said that. What was said was that we would prioritize regional recruits much more so than national recruits. This makes our success with such recruits a much higher priority, as well.

Exactly. Here's the problem -- Dooley is getting whipped by Saban, Auburn, Richt, and pretty much everyone for targeted recruits. Here's the record so far against those 3 for regional targets:

Dooley vs. Saban
Dooley - 1
Saban - 10

Dooley vs. Chizk
Dooley - 0
Chizk - 8

Dooley v. Richt
Dooley - 1
Richt - 6

This isn't a good start.

Maybe u should spell our those recruits we supposedly lost. It's still September. Just thought I'd put that in there. Last year we had 8 commitments compared to 14 this year.

And that is probably an intelligent approach this early on when we are so deprived of depth. Other teams can afford to lose a recruit or two on NSD. I think we're pretty much on the same page though. I think Dooley will offer nationally but only expend time on those who demonstrate legit interest in UT if they are outside of the radius.

I am concerned about our lack of top tier talent that we have committed. I know some will scream at me for mentioning it, but with the majority 3* and only a couple of 4*, an no 5*, we will wind up in the bottom third of the conference. And I do not have confidence that some on here have that this will be fixed by 1. Every 3* we have will suddenly magically become 5* 2. The remainder of the recruits we get will all be 4* or 5* players. 3. Dooley's assessment of talent is so far above all other coaches that if he recruits them the all must be the best in the country regardless of the thoughts of other coaches and recruiting services 4. This coaching staff is so far above all others that the are able to take sub par talent and win regardless of the talent opposing them. Just my thoughts. I hope for the best, but I am not so sure. As always, GBO.

It's going to be real hard for a guy with a 17-20 record at La Tech to sell his abilities to top tier recruits.

If Dooley can show he's a legit coach, the top notch guys will come.

It's not really possible to say he can or can't recruit until signing day.

If Dooley keeps putting competitive teams on the field and is able to sell the "We're just a few elite guys from the top, be one of those elite guys" angle, he'll do pretty good IMO.

Exactly.

Its a progression. He has to take our youth this year, and get better. HS kids ain't stupid, they see what he was left with the depth, and talent. They want to see if he can make it competitive, and improve it.

We need to finish strong. Anything less than top 15 is unacceptable. In order to compete for BCS Championships, we need to be in the top 5 every year. Facts of life.

BCS championships? I'd be more worried about competing for the sec east, then letting the rest of the chips fall eventually.
