Showing Hart the door

So when do you think Hart will be shown the door? How long is his contract? What would it take to get rid of him? Or does his hiring of Jones cement his position for a long time?

Exactly what has Hart done to bring on this fire him crap? :ermm:

His pics chest bumping CBJ after a win was downright creepy. Like a grandpa putting on lipstick and a dress to play with his granddaughter creepy.

It's a wait and see kind of thing with him, but in my book, he has one (major) strike in the count. After the KY debacle as few years ago, and 80% of Dooley's staff bailed on him....THAT was the time to move. That was the "Strike while the iron is hot" moment. He knew nothing good could come of replacing them with scrubs.

I'd be happy if he'd just go ahead and retire....go back to hosting Tales of the Crypt of something.

Hart hasn't done anything to be fired. Cheek is another matter I wish we could send him packing.

If I had to pick, I would rather Susan Martin go before Cheek. From what I hear she's the main fly in the ointment where the athletic department is concerned.

The last AD destroyed the men's brand. The new AD is destroying the women's brand. Just what the Cheeky one wanted.

Dave Hart is our best, last hope to get the entire AD back on track and profitable again. This is like calling for Winston Churchill's resignation during WWII.
Truly it's the governor, not Hart. If Haslam will appoint BOT members who will vote to put the UTAD back under the UT president's control instead of the UTK chancellor's control then things will start to get right again. Until that happens I'm afraid we'll take 2 steps back for every step forward.

Hart has accomplished a great deal during his short stay at Tennessee. Maybe the most important accomplishment is the mending of relationships with the University's top Administration and its Academic personal. He hired Jones and has presented plans to build a new indoor track facility to get out track program back to where it will again compete for SEC and National championships. The Baseball program appears to be ready to be a force again. The Ladies Basketball program is the best it has been in the last 3-4 years. Anyone would be a fool to suggest that he would be shown the door. For the first time in 10 years , our Athletic program is on the way up. Thank you mister Hart for your knowledge and effort.

yes agree tennessee is starting to rise again minus counzo but cant blame him for that

Firing Dave Hart would only serve to boost some idiot's ego who would claim he/she/it suggested it. He has done a good job in a tough position. Much will rest on his handling of the C Martin fiasco.

Let's remember that Hamilton did these things:

Fired Fulmer
Hired Lane Kiffin
Didn't protect UT at all with Kiffin's lopsided contract
Hired Dooley
Mishandled the Pearl incident
Basically fired Pearl
Hired Martin on his way out the door

Here's what Hart has done, will do:

Woke up early Sunday morning to fire Dooley after Vandie loss
Hired bUTch Jones.
Will soon hire Bruce Pearl.

Don't forget he fired Fulmer 6 months after giving him a raise and a two year contract extension :fool:

He also completely mishandled the Fulmer firing...players were openly rebelling during the presser. One of the worst days in UT football history. :furious3:

Sigh. Hart had nothing to do with Wilcox leaving, would liked to have kept him. Dooley created that situation. Wilcox saw the handwriting on the wall and took a more promising position in a location he liked better anyway.

Hart at least...with the exception of Sal, ensured that all new staff members had one-year contracts.

Recall that it wasn't just Wilcox...only TWO STAFF MEMBERS (OC and WR coach) were retained. It was insane, and all on Dooley. Hart had just taken the job and did the best he could. About all he could have done was fire Dooley, and maybe he should have.

Make no mistake about it, Hart is a huge step up from Hammy. He was the AD at FSU...that is a good thing. He knows how to run a big time winning program.

What exactly has he done to get fired? And who cares that much that he was employed at Alabama? It's not that big of a deal. He's at our university now and that's all that matters.

So someone who bristles at the very notion that a football coach should NOT get indefinite time to turn a program around even if results are mediocre at best for several years because "stability" is all important... suggests it is time for an AD that took over just as bad if not a worse job situation should be shown the door?

Hart's future probably is tied to that of Jones more so than anything else.

I'm not impressed at all with Hart for his handling of the coaching search but, you're exactly right, his future will hinge on Butch's performance.

There is no tangible reason whatsoever to think Hart is getting fired anytime soon though.
