Showing Hart the door

So when do you think Hart will be shown the door? How long is his contract? What would it take to get rid of him? Or does his hiring of Jones cement his position for a long time?

Squirrel!

Those of you who have seen the movie "UP" will understand what I think of this thread.:)

Lol. I'm game. Barbara Dooley has to be at least 80 years old. I think I can take her.

Who TF was that tool? There is still a deranged Dooley supporter roaming VN?

Hey bud...I guarantee u one thing...if u and I were sitting across from each other having a drink u wouldn't consider me a "tool". Actually u'd be trying to sell urself to me. Is this a cocky post..yes! But trust me I'd back it up.

I don't like Hart because he looks and sounds like a caricature of the sleazy Southern politician or evangelical with his accent and his slicked-back, dyed hair. And the fact that he was part of the athletic department at the Univ. of Alabama, which arguably is the dirtiest program in the history of college sports (with its state rival Auburn close behind) reinforces that image, for me at least. Didn't he work for the longtime Bama AD who recently retired--a guy who knew that booster Logan Young was bribing high school coaches for years and did nothing to stop it; may have even encouraged it? If I were running UT, I would never hire someone associated with Alabama--which besides being a dirty football program is a state full of dumb crackers. I could change my opinion if Jones revives the football program, but his persona alone makes it hard for me to take him seriously.

Let's remember that Hamilton did these things:

Fired Fulmer
Hired Lane Kiffin
Didn't protect UT at all with Kiffin's lopsided contract
Hired Dooley
Mishandled the Pearl incident
Basically fired Pearl
Hired Martin on his way out the door

Here's what Hart has done, will do:

Woke up early Sunday morning to fire Dooley after Vandie loss
Hired bUTch Jones.
Will soon hire Bruce Pearl.

No, he won't re-hire Pearl.

I predict that when Dick Vitale retires, Bruce will take his place. Both broke the rules, and when caught, lied about what happened. Any school that would have hired Vitale would have had the NCAA's microscope on them for twenty years. Same would happen with Bruce, even if the show cause is lifted.

Do I wish Bruce was still our coach? Hell, yes! I loved watching Vols Basketball when he was here. Can we get him back without the NCAA setting up camp around campus? Hell, no! We will be on double secret probation for fifty years.

I love our fans but sometimes they are so out of touch with reality.

The answer to UT's problems isnt firing everyone we, in our own opinions, think is doing a bad job. What on earth has Hart done to get fired?

My head hurts from all this...

I likewise would never hire anyone that has been associated with Alabama. It is like hiring someone from the mob.

So someone who bristles at the very notion that a football coach should NOT get indefinite time to turn a program around even if results are mediocre at best for several years because "stability" is all important... suggests it is time for an AD that took over just as bad if not a worse job situation should be shown the door?

Hart's future probably is tied to that of Jones more so than anything else.

Big tough guy. Making threats on a message board.

Also, typing actual words isn't hard and doesn't make you look as stupid.

Dave Hart doesn't need to be fired. The malaise that has been Tennessee athletics these past few years wasn't started by him. First off, we are still going through the pains of the hole that Hamilton dug. Hart's legacy and his job is tied to Butch. Butch just went through his first year---ya'll crazy people are going to have to give this stuff a chance to be ironed out. The firing and changing coaches multiple times has been a failure. We need to let continuity set in. As far as hoops...CCM has this year to get it turned around. He's still got that chance..but it's not looking good for him right now.

Dave Hart is our best, last hope to get the entire AD back on track and profitable again. This is like calling for Winston Churchill's resignation during WWII.
