Showing Hart the door

Yes, Dave Hart must be fired immediately because he doesn't consult VN before making hiring and firing, salary and bonus decisions and when to go to the bathroom. All hail the mighty VN. Need to create a new forum titled "AD DAILY MARCHING ORDERS" .
For God's sake the man has a tremendously difficult job which most of us can't even begin to understand, so stfu till he does something obviously stupid.
As much as some on here would like to believe, being a UT coach or AD is not the be all or end all that some believe. Have to hire the best candidate you can find that will take the job, the absolute best is not always available or may not want the job.

So when do you think Hart will be shown the door? How long is his contract? What would it take to get rid of him? Or does his hiring of Jones cement his position for a long time?

Why don't you just change your colors to crimson and white. This post is about as dumb as anything that comes from bama fans. Why the hell would Hart be fired? For hiring Butch and Warlick and getting the AD out of the hole that Hammy left it in. Volnation is beginning to be dumbed down with threads like this.

Beginning to be?

I don't like Hart because he looks and sounds like a caricature of the sleazy Southern politician or evangelical with his accent and his slicked-back, dyed hair. And the fact that he was part of the athletic department at the Univ. of Alabama, which arguably is the dirtiest program in the history of college sports (with its state rival Auburn close behind) reinforces that image, for me at least. Didn't he work for the longtime Bama AD who recently retired--a guy who knew that booster Logan Young was bribing high school coaches for years and did nothing to stop it; may have even encouraged it? If I were running UT, I would never hire someone associated with Alabama--which besides being a dirty football program is a state full of dumb crackers. I could change my opinion if Jones revives the football program, but his persona alone makes it hard for me to take him seriously.

Yeah, how stupid of us to hire a guy from the Athletic Department of a university that has shown a huge commitment to winning in football?

The whole "He wuz at bammer so fahr him" mentality seems a little dumb to me.

Doug Dickey, our AD from 1985-2002, the most recent UT football "heyday", came from Florida. But I feel quite confident plenty of people were calling for his head from nearly day 1....

When will op not come up with a thread like this? What will it take to get op to find something else to talk about? Or does the op choose to stick with just commenting instead of starting a bs thread?

He hasn't done anything as of yet that would make me support firing him. He fired Dooley and hired Butch. Seems like a pretty smart move so far, the grand result is yet to be seen but id have Butch over for dinner as where I wouldn't even let Dooley on my driveway. Besides, compared to his predecessor he's a knight in shining armor.

Just for the record those were not my questions, they were made by 2 friends of mine. We were drinking and started discussing sports. I called them stupid for even mentioning Hart being fired. I was curious to see how VN would react to these questions. Relax. I bleed orange.

For those neophytes out there who don't understand what was said here: Bob Woodruff played football for Neyland ('36-'38) before serving as an assistant to the Old Man from '39 - 41. After WWII he migrated south to serve as Head Bear at Baylor for three years ('47 - '49) then left Waco to become Head Giant Water Lizard and AD in Gatorland in the 1950's. One reason he did this was because the AD position at the University of Tennessee was already occupied by one Robert Reese Neyland.

Woodruff returned to Tennessee in 1961 to be an assistant coach. Think about that.

Finally, he was named AD on The Hill in 1963 following Neyland's death the previous year.

UT football history didn't start in 1998 ... or 2008 for that matter.
