SI: Strong to stay at Louisville

I woke up this morning thinking that there's no way Dave Hart could be botching this hire as bad as we think he is. What a difference 12 hours makes.

Hire Petrino, Davis or Chavis--who has three major positives: excellent DC, excellent leader, excellent Vol. Hire a good staff & go for it! Miles recommended him--and so should Fulmer & Manning.

Cheek will not go for Petrino, and IMO Fedora will stay at UNC--he just got there. These have got to be our three now. Chavis would be better head coach than many realize. Would unify Vol Nation--and he's got fire in belly.

It appears that if we don't get Gruden we will end up with
Dirt.....does this coaching search sound like last time when we settled for Dufus......it is beginning to get comical

if he has turned us down he has to be the dumbest man alive.i can understand stoops, gundy and even gruden.he has no ties with ul except for money.

everything will be alright.now we offer butch and bobby the job.i know they have some issues but still the best 2 coaches out there.would take these 2 over fedora because you know they can do the job.

On sports talk Today they said someone met with the team. I only heard bits and pieces of it but I was thinking they said it was strong?

I'm beginning to believe that this is the road we will have to travel.

I really believe we will win quicker with him than many. There are a number of NFL coaches out there too in addition to more collegiate coaches with HC experience. Don't forget some current NFL coaches will have collegiate experience and want to come back. Let's don't lose Heart. (maybe just Hart...jk)

Could be lack of confidence in himself. Tennessee is a pressure-cooker job. Maybe he doesn't feel like he has enough experience yet for the task, and doesn't want to see himself fired after two or three years, which could ruin his career.

Rucker said UL's counteroffer must have been absolutely ridiculous...which is what Skeeter said would've had to have happened for Strong to stay.

If we can't get Fedora you might as well keep Chaney and try it again next year.

I'm leaning in that direction.

I dont thin we can sink any lower in the sec maybe we should in the socon conference. It seems we cant get a strong coach other one from La tech . I hope Hart can prove me wrong but I right now I'm from the show me state.

Rumors are Strong was offered 4.5 mil a year for 5 years to stay at UL. If true, glad Hart backed off or held firm at his number. Also the fact Strong could not bring certain assistants played into the decison Im sure. That would be another good decison by Hart. Looks bad for UT to the public, but better off in the end IMO.

How about Ellis Johnson? (If we are too righteous to interview Petrino or Tressel)

Blessing in disguise, if true.

It might be smart to bring in a solid negotiator. Strong should have been locked up a week ago, without giving UL a chance to escalate a bidding war-- if we really wanted Strong and the interest was mutual. Clearly, UTAD needs tactical help, as evidenced by our continued mishaps over the past two searches.

When I hit my bottom smoking crack, others had to make me aware that I needed help...

We need to hold an intervention with the UTAD:yess:

Clearly, anyone who turns down the Tennessee job has self-esteem and self-confidence issues...the fact that Louisville has 18 starters back next season had no bearing whatsoever on Strong's decision to stay put.
