I've seen the extensive list of all the top candidates for the Texas job and I don't think any of them are likely to leave their current job except for Franklin. What say you fellas?

Too early in the process. Any current college coach could get a substantial raise from Texas. Any NFL Coach if successful would have bargaining power for long term guaranteed money. Say like 7-9 million for 8 years. Someone of James Franklin ilk Texas could get for like 4-5 million for like a 6-8 year deal and not all guaranteed.

I can't see them stroking a check for the guy until the rape investigation is cleared.

I guess it could go the other way...if Franklin took the job, TX money might try to make the investigation go away as quickly as possible.

For that reason, the fact that he doesn't have relationships in Texas, he's a little volatile, not a huge name and he hasn't really won big games yet, I can't see him as a serious candidate unless a number of coaches say no.

I would be very surprised if James Franklin gets a serious look for any job opening in the near future. I believe the situation with the on going rape case is alot more serious than people are led to believe, what vandy fans cant come to grips with is if he had any part of a cover up the only team he will be coaching will be with the Tennessee prison system. I think texas ends up with either bronc from BYU or Freeze from ole miss, their hire wont be as big as they are claiming.

Agreed.

On the surface, it looks like a solid and exciting hire.

Dig down a little and its pretty shaky. Not saying he wouldn't win there, but I don't think its the slam dunk some paint it as.

He'd definitely have to adjust his style. I don't think his schtick he's used at Vandy would play very well at Texas. It would be a very Kiffin-esque hire from that aspect.

Exactly... That's not to take anything away from Franklin. I just don't think Texas is the type of school that will want to roll the dice.

IF they offer he's gone...but this is like the talk of him going to USC...There's no way in hell, Texas is hiring James Franklin

Alot. Tennessee cannot beat James Franklin. If he gets hired away, hopefully we can start beating Vanderbilt again and move up a spot in the East.

So Franklin pulls off an 14-10 win and vandy is unbeatable now. Not as impressed as you I guess.

He won't get an interview. Would be surprised if his agent even gets courtesy call.

Seriously, what has he really accomplished at Vandy to warrant attention from programs like USC and Texas. Sure winning 9 at Vandy is great on the surface but when you look at who the wins were against it's not THAT impressive.

I'll give him credit for being able to close out close games in the 4th against crappy teams.

Lets not forget, USC never interviewed Franklin. The only ones saying USC had interest in Franklin were members of the media (cough Clay Travis cough).
