Bud and RCR are expected to announce the week of the Watkins Glen race that they have agreed to sponsor Harvick next year.

AJ Allmendinger has been talking to Penske Racing about signing there next year.

There is speculation Paul Menard he'll be the fourth car at RCR next year.

Mobile One was courting Jeff Gordon but HMS reupped with Quaker State, expect Mobile One to join Stewart-Haas Racing.

Mark Martin's future in the 5 car is just one of many hot topics during Brickyard 400 weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway - ESPN

Please no expansion RCR. Look what happened last year. Even if Menard will boost the team finances by a billion.

Richard said four cars weren't the issue, I think it was the bad simulation data and how they set up the chassis. Same thing looks like has happened Roush-Fenway this year as well. I want to see Bobby in a fourth RCR car next year.

Supposedly James Finch will be closing down his Phoenix Racing operation and a deal fell through about putting Kasey Kahne in the 09. Only one website has reported this so I'm not sure I believe right now till Finch or another Phoenix official confirms it. If its true though the landing spots for KK decrease even further, since SHR, JRM, and now perhaps Phoenix all have been ruled out. Could we see a team like TRG Motorsports perhaps end there alliance with Richard Childress Racing and align with HMS to get KK? Or does this open the door for Mark Martin to come in and buy Phoenix Racing from Finch in a similar deal like Tony?

It also appears RGM will park this week. Robby has entered PJ Jones in the #7 this week. Makes me wonder the future plans for this team. They can't attract any sponsorship.

This is a little off the subject but am I the only one that wishes nascar would go back to 36 car fields? These start and park cars are just stupid, it doesn't help the sport nor make the action any better.

Marcos Ambrose and JTG/Daugherty Racing are parting ways at the end of the season.

Edit:To follow up it appears a reunion with Ford is likely for Marcos. Apparently he has been seen at the RPM shop and a lot of insiders are claiming he is close to finalizing a deal with RPM likely to drive the 9 car next year.

That's interesting given the relative amount of success they've had.

Looks like Bayne is going to get his shot.

He also hasn't ruled out a return to Australia. I would be shocked if he did go back, but he said he might.

Anyone watching Nascar Race Hub? Yeah, I usually don't watch it either. Anyway, it was suggested that team Redbull may switch to Chevy and get assistance from Hendrick. They could then run Kahne and Vickers in the Red Bull cars which would allow Martin to stay in the 5. They may also put on a third car if they decide to keep Scott Speed.

That may be what the delay is on announcing Kahne's ride if Red Bull is not ready to inform Toyota they're leaving yet. It would also satisfy Martin to keep him in the 5 which makes the most sense to me.

I guess that is why all the Martin to Red Bull stuff is out there if they're planning to switch to Chevy.

They've been rumored to be switching to Chevy last year, I don't buy it though, I would wait till an official statement from both sides before believing anything.

I think Hendrick and Kahne are screwed. It's too late in the game to get the best deals. Still, they're both great at what they do so they'll probably end up getting something decent.

Rick Hendrick is too smart to wait this late to just put something together. I'm sure he has been working on a deal since KK put his name on the dotted line.

Well I was reading some guy's opinion on this on another message board; his opinion was that that when Rick first signed Kasey he thought he could simply wave his little magic wand and make everything follow into place. Now he realizes he can't and is concerned he might not make everything fit.

I'm starting to come over to that idea.

No chance. You don't became a successful team owner and business man by just waiting for things to fall into place. Rick has a plan, no doubt in my mind.

I like the idea of bringing Kenny Francis over with Kahne, moving Gustafson to the 88 and putting Lance McGrew back in the shop.

If Jr. can't win with Alan Gustafson than there is no hope for him.
