Invest in Big Oil!!!

My guess is that you (the collective you - not just CSpin) already have. If you have a retirement plan, pension, IRA etc. with individual stock holdings or mutual funds - you probably already own some "Big Oil" and thus are part of the problem :p

So dump your retirment plan -- you are only screwing yourself....

I'll give yall one thing. The oil companys are definatly lining some pockets on both sides of the isle, or there would have been hearings about price gouging on a corperate level.

Even when the fields were trashed out in the gulf a year ago, the oil companys still made a killing.

So I guess the Saudis didn't increase production and lower the price of oil before Bush's 2004 election either huh?

I don't think they can do that unilaterally. All of OPEC (which involves several countries that have no love for the US in general and Bush in particular) meets regularly so they can decide on production quotas so as to maximize their profits by attempting to strike the fine balance between profit and hampering client economy. If the Saudis did go over their quota, a massive uproar would have broken out. Maybe I missed it...did that happen?

EDIT: I am an idiot who didn't see where was 9 pages of discussion on the topic...which developed far beyond this. :pinch:

There is such an investigation virtually every year or so...

Me and my wife were just talking about this. AMAZING that gas prices continue to drop with the election on us.

Weren't gas prices high before hurricane season? Before Israel and Hezbollah started going at it? Before everything else?

I can't really argue with you right now, but bookmark this post. The prices will be sky high again after the elections, especially if it works and the Republicans get re-elected.

I'd almost bet money on it.

Funny how gas was still above $70 before hurricane season and the Israel-Hezbollah situation. There is still a crisis in Nigeria, Chavez is still screaming, the Winter heating oil demand is coming, etc. I'm just not seeing where the current events are matching the oil prices.

Gee, $70 for gas....that is outrageous. Is that per/gallon or per/MCF?:):)
