Will there even be six conferences next year with all the consolidation. We may be down to only 4 major conferences which implies some of the smaller conferences get an automatic bid? It made sense to have 6 when there were 5 major conferences.
I definitely don't have the answer to that. I was just trying to post new information (maybe just new to me?) that was sourced. I don't agree or disagree with information. I attempted to post what the post season will look like next year.
I think the real challenge for the next year or two is this: The schools that figure out how to best leverage NIL and the transfer portal will be the power house schools for the next era of football and that may or may not include ANY school. Tenn can rise above them all and LSU and UGA can become bottom feeders.
I think Tenn is very high on the list because they have Nico and his big NIL. To my knowledge, UGA doesn't have any big NIL guy, like Nico, yet. We may be sitting here in 2 years thinking, "Man Coach H (or Tenn) were visionaries, more so than any other school" because other schools may have nicer facilities, Tenn figured out NIL and makes sure all the "best talent" goes to Tenn because the kids want "money now" more so than waiting for the NFL. Or they'd rather have money than a great facility that cost $500 million like Texas AM.
I have to admit I don't understand how NIL works EXACTLY and I would like to know exactly how much money players end up with after everyone else has taken their cut first. ie
How did Nico get that deal?
What does he actually end up with?
Who else made money on the Nico NIL.
Why aren't other players getting similar deals? (My opinion is that Nico got THE best deal so far, but maybe there are others out there)
If you have ideas about the answer to some of those questions, I'd love to read your opinion, but I'm definitely going to figure that out because it IS the future of college football.
I'm aware that Stetson Bennett got around $500k and that Carson Beck got $600,000+
