Since I'm reading there is no East vs West in the SEC next year

Doesn’t matter what the format is if we can’t beat the crappy Florida team then I’m glad we’re not in the championship just means we get boatraced and everyone on here calling for coach so and so’s head to be fired . We are a 8-4 to 10-2 program that should be our mark. Win a Natty every 10 yrs. Right now we win one every 30-40

Sanky is retarded and couldn’t figure out the 6-3 format in a year. Obviously he needs 2 yrs to do it in. It’s really stupid , we should easily be playing 9 conference games next year. There is no reason we shouldn’t. PERIOD!!

I thought I heard it was staying at 8 even after next year because Nick Saben cried about his 3 permanent opponents lol

That makes no sense. They have played as many as most. Especially when you take into account they were not allowed to play Oklahoma this year even though they were scheduled to
They don't play Bama annually and never have to go to the swamp. At the very least their path to the SECCG is easier than most. That alone gives them an advantage then add on they got to drop Oklahoma for a cupcake this year. That is not their fault, I get it, but Bama played Texas this year so it could have been done.

What was their signature regular season win this year? Ole Miss, Mizzou?

I would say Missouri. Missouri this year is basically 2022 Tennessee. They went 10-2 and are in the top 10.

Despite the rash of conference realignment this offseason, it is expected that agreed-upon 12-team College Football Playoff format will maintain its structure at least for the 2024 season, sources told CBS Sports.

The main reason: It would take an unanimous vote of the CFP Management Committee -- 10 commissioners and Notre Dame's athletic director -- to make any change to the 12-team format at this point, sources confirmed.

The 12-team structure in place for 2024 will include see the six highest-ranked conference champions populate the field as automatic qualifiers with six other at-large teams receiving playoff bids.

That's was mentioned on cbssports.com (ERIN WALSH on JUNE 1, 2023)

5 sec schools, 4 Bigten schools , 1 ACC, 1Big12, 1 group of Five. That will be your playoff at least for the rest of my lifetime. I’m cool with it.

Will there even be six conferences next year with all the consolidation. We may be down to only 4 major conferences which implies some of the smaller conferences get an automatic bid? It made sense to have 6 when there were 5 major conferences.

We can still play them regularly. How about every other year? It's simply a massive disadvantage to us as a program. All because it's what we did 50+ years ago. Hurts us in every way possible- record, recruiting, etc. it's very likely Georgia has zero or 1 natty over the last 2 seasons if they had to play Bama in regular season.
I disagree. They’re a true traditional rival, we should (and will) be good enough to compete with them yearly.

Antiquated thinking. Clemson won 2 NCs without playing anyone nearly as good as Bama during the regular seasons.
Not antiquated thinking… if you wanna be the best, take on top competition, don’t just walk through a bunch of cupcakes. Leave no doubt you’re the best.

Agree, That we're men we play the toughest is old way of thinking, UGA had a very easy schedule and still had some iffy games came rom behind 4 times but came out untouched in the end. Everyone gave them grief for the easy schedule but guess what their laughing all the way to Championship. Oh yeah, they cant beat their chest and say by gawd we play Bama every year lose to them but we are men.

I’m in agreement with this. We need to drop them either them or Georgia I’m tired of looking at the schedule and marking an automatic loss every season with those guys.

Georgia should just be a regular rotation game like every other school, but the 'third Saturday in October' should never go away. With virtually every tradition being abandoned in the greed of this 'new age' of CFB, it would be nice to hang on to that one.

It might not matter to the younger 'championship or bust' group of fans that have only seen the last decade and a half of mostly misery, but to anyone that has been around since the '80's and further back, eliminating that game would be taking away the last vestiges of what the SEC and CFB used to be about. And after last year and moving forward, that 'automatic loss' isn't going to remain that way.

I definitely don't have the answer to that. I was just trying to post new information (maybe just new to me?) that was sourced. I don't agree or disagree with information. I attempted to post what the post season will look like next year.

I think the real challenge for the next year or two is this: The schools that figure out how to best leverage NIL and the transfer portal will be the power house schools for the next era of football and that may or may not include ANY school. Tenn can rise above them all and LSU and UGA can become bottom feeders.

I think Tenn is very high on the list because they have Nico and his big NIL. To my knowledge, UGA doesn't have any big NIL guy, like Nico, yet. We may be sitting here in 2 years thinking, "Man Coach H (or Tenn) were visionaries, more so than any other school" because other schools may have nicer facilities, Tenn figured out NIL and makes sure all the "best talent" goes to Tenn because the kids want "money now" more so than waiting for the NFL. Or they'd rather have money than a great facility that cost $500 million like Texas AM.

I have to admit I don't understand how NIL works EXACTLY and I would like to know exactly how much money players end up with after everyone else has taken their cut first. ie

How did Nico get that deal?
What does he actually end up with?
Who else made money on the Nico NIL.

Why aren't other players getting similar deals? (My opinion is that Nico got THE best deal so far, but maybe there are others out there)

If you have ideas about the answer to some of those questions, I'd love to read your opinion, but I'm definitely going to figure that out because it IS the future of college football.

I'm aware that Stetson Bennett got around $500k and that Carson Beck got $600,000+

I don't understand NIL either so I haven't a clue why Nico got so much. It is also based on perceived talent at the next level - it amazes me that a player with no college experience would start out with that much when that player hasn't proven anything at that level.

I am also concerned that it could eventually result with discord with the team, especially since fans keep harping about it so much. You know ... the hey there million-dollar QB, let's see if you can do it without our help type mentality.
