Dooley still bores me. However, couldn't care less how they do in press conferences. Would rather have a great coach than a quotable one.

Martin isn't the kind of guy that's going to be a cheerleader or dress up in costumes with Pat. He is all about character and winning.

I don't think Martin is going to be able to promote -- and I have only seen it truely exciting and alive ---with Mears and with Pearl -- both high energy promoters.

That's because Pearl is a salesman and marketer first who took up coaching later. Pearl started his basketball career in a mascot's costume, and it shows.

All the new guy is is a basketball coach. I don't get why that's such a problem.

It's remarkable how many Vol fans are so worried about the entertainment side of things -- the personality of the coach, how "fun" it is to watch his teams play, etc. We sure didn't hear any of that crap during either of the two recent football coaching searches. Which, I guess is the difference between being serious about a sport and not.

Agree 100%. Pearl was great in building up the image of UT men's bball and getting the brand out there. But now that he's done that, we just need a guy who can get the W. We don't need a salesmen any more. I remember when Buzz was coach and he would scream and yell and get T's all the time, but his teams were lousy. Nobody cares how great a salesman you are if you can't win games.

So what he doesnt make you want to sing and watch his interviews like they are the newest episode of The Event

He is a dam good coach and his players love him. He is smart, disciplined, educated and a fighter

Also as for him not winning a tournament game

HE WAS THE COACH OF MISSOURI STATE
Steven Pearl would have started for them, that is the type of talent they have
