Ok im going to look like a real dumba$$ by saying this & ill probably get alot of jack for it but, i was @ the game last night & if Skylar can get in the weight room add some muscle & be more physical the kid could def play at the high D1 level. The kid can absolutely shoot the lights out of a gym. Everyone is right i was wrong i said it. I ate my words. But atleast im admitting i was wrong.

HAHAHA... Glad to see you feel like a dumbass and are eating your words....this is great!!!!.....I told you i was right!! Thank me later hun!!!!

How many major offers did Chris Lofton have? The line on him was.....Too slow to defend quicker players... I'm by no means comparing Skylar to Lofton but the kid can shoot and score....

After watching the VOLS play Vandy Saturday Hopson just flat out missed wide open 3's....he didn't even have to work for.....He's a STARTER???

Oh and by the way I found yesterday that Skylar McBee is a nominee for McDonald's All-American honors....

The kid plays 2AA basketball ( do you even know what 2AA means ? ) of course he is going to play good in his conference, your conference has no competition it whatsoever. Everyone in Tennessee knows that D1 talent basketball players are in West Tennessee ( exception of Lee Humphrey, oh by the way do you even know who that is? )

Look if the kid goes to a big time school & plays congrats to him for all the hardwork & time in the gym to get to that point BUT from what myself & alot more people have seen from him he wont get meaningful playing time in a big conference.

I have played against Lee Humphrey in high school and he was amazing. I have also played against Skylar when I was at CN. He came and played in some intramural games with his brother (granted not a game) but having played against both, Skylar had the better stroke. Skylar was a freshmen in HS at this time and was keeping up with the CN players (ones that got kicked off for who knows what). So, I am not saying Skylar is the next big thing, but I do believe he has the ability to make it at a D1 program. He has the ability to get open and make a shot. Right now he creates his own shot, but at a D1 school he will not be the focus which will open him up for shots. Look at Terrance Ogalsby(sp) at Clemson, he is no better than Skylar.

Lets all quit arguing over this kid. If Pearl thinks he can play he will get him. It doesn't really matter what we think. Anyway all of us should wish him well no matter what he does. He is a Tennessee kid. It is hard to judge a kid's talent from Grainger County. I said earlier that I didn't think he could play here because of the talent level he is playing against now. I saw him play in the rocky top league but I haven't seen him in a high school game. I will eat my words though. The more I think about it, I believe it would be great to root for a kid like this. I will trust Pearl's opinion and if he likes him I will become a huge fan. If he doesn't choose him, I will wish him well wherever he goes.

Who is the last Basketball Player that got playing time, that lived within an hour of the campus?

Tell it how it is Davy. We played against skylar all the time at CN and the kid can stroke it. Tennessee needs to go after him hard. Like I said earlier lofton had no major D1 offers besides TN and look how he proved so many people wrong.

Lofton had offers from NC State, Dayton, Cincy, and Georgia.

Does Skylar even have any offers?

The thing about basketball recruiting is that its probably the most accurate because the top kids are playing against each other all throughout their lives, and its easier to see whos better than who. If Skylar was as good as you guys are making him out to be, then don't you think there would at least be some buzz around him?

Comparing his ability to shoot to Chris Lofton's is laughable...

Look at his recruiting page. Louisville offered him early but then they pulled the offer. NC state isn't on there. Neither is Georgia. Noone compared his shot to lofton either. Everyone has just said that he can shoot.

Bringing Lofton's recruiting history into the equation is a joke.

But you are saying that Lofton had zero offers and interests from D1 schools besides UT?

i have seen him play several times and i say he is as good of a shooter as lofton. Not only from 3 but from anywhere on the court.

Jay! Dude, some people will never learn.

look at his competetion.

When colleges recruiters recruit the best bball players, they tend to look at the competition they play in AAU ball. Granted, the teams Skylar's team plays are not as good as other areas. the AAU team Skylar plays for, plays the best competition. Your statement does not hold water. No school leagues are loaded with D1 talent, that is why AAU ball was created, to get the best bball players to play each other. Go to a big elite AAU tourney and see all of the coaches that show up. Yeah school ball is important but for true talent evaluation look at AAU ball.
Plus what a lot of people forget, basketball is not always about who has the best talent. Look at TN, most talented team in the SEC, but they do not give maximum effort. The reason Pearl's teams were so good is because they WORKED for it, they gave the extra effort. Skylar has got talent and gives the extra effort so I don't understand why you don't think he can make it. Jujuan Smith did it. He had NO scholarship offers, he was a walk on, which people forget. He is one of the most liked Vol in recent memory.

Just got back from Skylars game against Seymour. Didnt keep up with exact stats but he had somewhere around 20 points & 7 assists.

He didnt shoot it much, from what i saw has a very nice stroke!! Can really shoot the ball. Is a GREAT GREAT free throw shooter, was 8-8 from the line every one but two was nothing but net! Has quick hands in the passing lanes on defense, quick feet also. On offense has EXCELENT court vision & can really handle the ball. I could see this kid becoming a good PG somewhere. All in all kid looks good, needs to get use to the physicality of the SEC & needs to get faster.

Go ahead...get on the bandwagon now...all are witnessing just how good the kid is. Only we have known it for a while.

My recruiting guru skills are not self-appointed, they are God-given for those who have been clueless but now appear to have seen the light.

Does anyone know how he stacks up (stat wise)against say the likes of someone like Lee Humphrey did when he played in high school they seemed to be cut from the same type of mold or am i off base?
