Skylar McBee

We sorely lacked a shooter last year. Now, we've got one. Anything else he can add is just gravy.

We don't need 12 guys like him on the team, but one or two can make a big difference.

I have a friend close to the b-ball team, he says the only reason Bruce brought him in cause Skylar can flat out shoot it. He said he will get some good minutes against weak competition but said he has alot to learn & needs to get faster before he gets quality minutes in the SEC.

hopson will lead the league in 3-pointers made and percentage. mcbee will be there in two years. im happy to see mcbee get his chance to play out his and my dream

i dont mind skyler playin at ut but they said he could have a scolly as a soph he should get grants and student loans until he can score 10 a game 4 or 5 assist 4 rebs he can get loans or grants let ut give the scollys to 2 or 3 big guys that live more than 20 to 30 minuets away

Or maybe we can just leave scholarship decisions up to the coaches? Just throwing that one out there.

I'm excited to see Silky play. Nothing better than a little white kid getting a couple minutes a game to make a couple 3s.

You know, some of you people don't have a clue. I have watched Skylar play his entire career and he could play circles around seniors when he was in 7th grade. To say the he is not D1 material is just unethical. I have been to 2 of the first 4 games this season and he has been the sixth man. That is pretty good for a freshman at a big school like UT. I had the opportunity to be a team manager for Skylar in high school and was very impressed with him. He is a TEAM player, unlike some of the other players I worked with. That is hard to come by in this area. Skylar will make a big impact on the Vols this year, just wait and see. He will surprise you all.

As for jmoore, how would you know good talent? You would know talent if it slapped you in the face if you don't think that Skylar has D1 potential. Just wait and see. I promise, he will surprise you.

:D

in a half court situation...he stretches the D...he will open up the floor so much its sick.

He does have D1 talent, which isn't hard considering there's 330 D1 basketball schools, he just doesn't have SEC D1 talent. You saw him run circles around kids because the lack of basketball talent in East TN is comical. The lack of talent is evident by the number of kids we bring in from the area to play basketball (so few).

So being in the rotation at UT as a freshmen means what? That Pearl is a bad evaluator of talent?

Being in the rotation vs UNCA and Austin Peay means very little. We'll see where this kid stands when it comes to Memphis, KU, SEC games. For someone who said McBee's the 6th man off the bench, you're exactly right, the 6th man OFF the bench, not the 6th man. Pearl's evaluation of talent has nothing to do with this kid, he gave him the opportunity to walk on which he could grant to anyone, making the team is a different scenario. He believes he's good enough to be a member of the team doesn't mean he's good enough to see consistent minutes once the competition heats up. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see him do well and help our team, it's just comical that people believe he's a great player based on HS, where he competed in one of the worst areas for HS basketball in the entire country. The talent in the state, outside of Memphis, is a joke.

Not his evaluation to let him walk-on, his evaluation up to this point at UT to let him play in the rotation quite a bit in the first 2 games of the season.

I agree however that we need to wait and see how much he is still playing when it comes to league play.

You know, not all good talent has to come from a big city. The kids from the little country schools should have just as much of an opportunity as the rest. You must not have went to a small school so you have no idea what it's like. Watching a boy play ball all of his career and then getting to watch him play at UT is amazing. Some people just don't understand. I am sick of the people who don't know Skylar and haven't watched him play in any more than 2 or 3 games would just shut up and give the kid a chance.

I never said Skylar didnt have D1 talent, of course he has D1 talent their are over 300 D1 colleges in basketall. What i said was right now he isnt ready for the SEC & he isnt. He need's to get faster, stronger, & get use to the speed of the SEC. Their is no doubt Skylar can shoot the light's out of a gym but this isnt Class 2A basketball anymore, this is the SEC.

What's really sad is having a thread hammering a walkon kid for thirteen pages, that has only played a few minutes in his first two games as a volunteer. Get a freaking life! If you want to pick on a kid, pick on one thats at least going to school free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:banghead2:

Everybody wants to hammer home the point about his weak competition in high school. Nobody wants to acknowledge that he played AAU ball on a very good team and performed at a high level against top notch competition. Nobody knows what kind of impact he will have in his career. But lets move on with his high school competition being an indicator that he cant play.
