Slavery Never Existed

I thought they wanted us to look to our founders, as they intended the world?

Yes, 2 dozen activists from an unnamed organization is a suitable sample to paint an entire group. You and gs should compare notes.

it's a stretch to say that's what the TP is saying.

but, fair enough, if it's ok for the textbooks to reveal the shortcomings of the Founders (which I agree with, they weren't gods), then they should also point out that Che Guevara and company were murderous thugs, that Mao and Stalin are responsible for the deaths of millions. Modern textbooks are awash in political correctness and historical revisionism, if kids are going to learn that some of the Founders owned slaves and killed Indians, then they should also learn that the "revolutionaries" of the 20th century shouldn't be idolized either.

No argument from me on that point.

The shame is that the Academics responsible for the textbooks use them to further an agenda. Many kids just take the slant for the whole truth, and go with that.

Personally, I find the Jon Stewart "textbook" to be more educational than what I had in HS

Sounds good. I just don't like hero worship. We're all just folks.

You'd be surprised how few academics have a hand in k-12 textbooks. Bureaucrats write those.

Most textbooks I use are written by someone with Doctor in front of their name! The bureaucrats have final say to adopt the book or not. They don't write them.

Y'all please help me... So basically they want to take out how African Americans got to this country and their existence until the 1900's? It's a shame that black kids don't even know AF history before slavery and now they want to take that out too? Y'all please correct me if I'm wrong

Facts? There is no room for those here. Only agenda driven drivel.

Yeah, history also glosses over the fact that 20% of the Northern Army in the Revolution was black, at Saratoga, Oriskany, Montreal, and the rest of campaigns in the region.

I suppose it's not convenient to show that blacks were something other than slaves until the Civil War era.

What do you think happens when the books come to bureaucrats and the books don't say what they want them to say? The don't get published.

This is history book worthy but the fact that Thomas Jefferson had an affair with a slave is not. IMO.

They have certain things they want in a book. There is a big difference between wanting something specific and writing the textbook. Example being Tennessee history. One would think that would have to be about Tennessee history.
