Smart WR's

Yes you can based on what the cover man is doing

No you can’t. If he runs a hitch and it’s off coverage it could be that the WR made the route choice. It could just be that a hitch was called.

If a WR runs a hitch against tight coverage, it could be that he made the wrong choice, or it could be that the play required him to run a hitch without any other option

Say it usually take some time and a lot of work for them to understand. Maybe some of our WR didn't wanna put in that work
yup exactly. Only 3 will really ever be involved.. it seems this year we didn't have one? Maybe Thornton in his 2nd year with the program. IDK to me there hasn't been one this year.

We need to have 1 of the 3 be a burner ( Hyatt, Javonte Peyton )

You obviously do not understand how our system reads the defense. Watch the videos if you want to learn.

When operating right, our plays NEVER have a set route. There is always options and it is not either do this or do that. There are multiple options based on the cover man, the NB, the safety, what LB's are doing.

Zachariah Branch is no longer on the USC Trojans football team. He entered the transfer portal along with his brother Zion, who plays safety for the Trojans. The brothers are expected to commit to the same program for 2025.

We are going after him hard he has a younger brother too that could figure in the equation.
Hearing we are leading team for both

sorry to interject but y'all stop arguing because we low-key barely even ran any rpo's compared to previous years under heup. A breakdown was on twitter pointing this out. That being said RPO's are all option routes regardless

Let's hit the daily double with these two transfers.

Example, one of the routes Hyatt ran against Bama in 2022. He starts as a wide slot on the right side. His goal was to attack the safety in the middle of the field.
As his route began his route moved toward that safety making him back pedal and move further left, but then his route flattened out and he was hit for a TD on a post.

All of this while Tillman had to occupy the corner, fant had to occupy the LB in the flat, and the RB had to had to occupy the other safety.

Hyatt might have been covered, so Hendon had to read all 4 to determine where to throw the pass.

Sure. I’m very familiar with run b shoot concepts in general. It sounds like you’re describing just a basic spot seam read, similar to a concept called Y Go.

Here’s my question: how can you see a similar play this year and know for sure that the option was chosen by the WR and not the coach?

you can't tell.. shouldn't be able to in a seamless offense.

I can assure you I have a fairly decent understanding of our system and the reads for WRs and QBs. You should just drop that and focus on what you’re trying to state.

There’s no offense in the country that never has a set route. You specifically mentioned Tillman having a set route in your last comment to me.

This year our WR's were not capable of making the reads, which is why it was dumbed down for them. The hour long video explains this.

P.S. we do not run a run & shoot offense. Our is a take off that but a veer and shoot. Watch the 21 minute video.......

You don’t know that. You can’t tell that based on film. And you may way to check your definitions before correcting others.

Veer and shoot is a run n shoot based passing attack. That’s like saying air raid isn’t west coast. It shows a complete lack of understanding of the subject

To occupy the CB, "if he is even I am leaving, if he is deep I stop" the video explains it way easier than I can.

All WR and the QB must be on the same page, making the same reads. There are 3 or 4 route options for each WR

You can! Watch the damn video. It shows how our route tree got simplified the year. Why does a coach simplify things???? Because the players cannot execute the complicated concepts!

I understand the concepts far better than you.

Yeah, you keep telling me things. I know how a run and shoot offense works. Each WR does not have 3 or 4 route options. Some do, but not all. For example I highly doubt the flat route on the slot option play you were describing has any other option than going to the flat. His route has to be fixed to move the man over the slot to give him space to work

Okay. How can you tell the route was simplified and the WR didn’t have the same options he previously had?

If Tillman ran the hitch and the coach told him to, how do you know he didn’t have a deep option?

Yep, I think he may have fallen for one of these YouTube video guys who pretend they know more about what a player was supposed to do on a given play than they really do
Sorry I can't write it in crayon. I belive Art Briles explaining it isn't some youtube guy pretending since he is the guy who developed it.....

look at my post above.. Josh only trust 3 max.. he didn't have anyone to trust this year.
Y'all are both correct. Better WR option that are smarter would be able to run option routes on their own.
this year we did not have smart players at the position which is why the offense looked like crap and the wr room did nothing
WE DID NOT HAVE THE WR ROOM TO BE SUCCESSFUL

If the flat guy is even, he is leaving and running a wheel route down the sideline.

Because the guy covering Tillman was not even with Tillman. "If he is deep, I stop"

He did have a deep option "if he is even, I am leaving"

Lol okay. If you demand a pissing contest, I guess we can.
Please diagram some basic run n shoot concepts for me and explain to me how long youve been going these concepts?

I’ve tried to nicely explain to you that you’ve been mislead. I wouldn’t care if the way in which you’ve been mislead didn’t also involve you taking shots at our WRs based on things you can’t possibly know. But sometimes the best thing you can do for the ignorant is to expose their lack of knowledge to them.

So please explain…I will wait

When CJH got here in order to understand how the offense worked, some of us found old Art Briles videos explaining the concepts.
