So the committee is officially a joke

Because they could beat the team that beat both UGA and Bama. Sure UGA won the second time, but Auburn beat two #1’s this season and two teams in the playoffs.

Also because they are, you know, undefeated. How many other teams did that this year? And sure, their conference is the greatest, but they took care of business and steamrolled almost every team they played in the regular season.

Saying they don’t have at least have a legitimate argument is short sighted just because they are “UCF”. These guys can play and are currently up against a legit SEC team.

It's not short sighted at all; their schedule wasn't even close to as tough as the other 4. Saying they should just because they are undefeated without taking into account SOS is silly.

And what is short sighted is judging it based on how they are doing against an SEC team in a bowl game that means way more to them than it does to Auburn.

I go back to my original argument in this thread. If true, and UCF still didn’t earn the right, then this isn’t a true playoff. It means only 40-50 teams are eligible no matter what. Why even have the G5 teams in DivI?

Haters will hate, but UCF is legit. LEGIT.

Because they make more money doing that than having their own playoff and championship, which most wouldn't care about that much.

If they had an 8 team playoff, you'd have an argument. But not 4. The 4 teams chosen are all more deserving than UCF.

They play who they have on their schedule. How much worse was their schedule than Bama’s? Bama promptly lost to the only decent team they played. MSU was they second best and they were a gnats *** away from losing that one.

Exactly why I said this should be an 8 team playoff. I’ve already gotten one response that said they still may not have gotten in, which is BS.

Way, way, way worse.

If UCF wins this game I think they got screwed. Just proves we need to go to a 8 team model. 5 conference champions and 3 at large.

Go to 8? It’s been hard enough to find four teams each of the past two seasons. Neither Bama nor OSU had a legit case this year and it was the same last season when they were deciding between Washington and Penn St. Why should the playoff be expanded?

That's not an argument; by that logic, Western Michigan should have gotten the 4th spot last year.

If you can't comprehend that SOS matters, I can't help you.

Not sure about "should" but I can tell you why it will: $$$.

If we had an 8 team playoff this year would look something like this.

#1 Clemson (ACC) vs #8 Auburn (at large)
#2 Oklahoma (Big12) vs #7 Wisconsin (at large)
#3 Georgia (SEC) vs #6 Alabama (at large)
#4 Ohio State (Big10) vs #5 USC (Pac12)

This also is giving the conference champions the top 5 slots and the 3 at large bringing up the rear. Not sure if the committee would do that or not.

Except WM didn’t beat everybody like UCF did. They play who is on their schedule and they completely dominated everybody. If they beat everybody by one point, I can see your case. UCF beat everybody like they were a P5 school. They are also currently up on a P5 SEC school at half.

Name one good team Bama beat this year outside of MSU.

UCF steamrolled everybody and has the top scoring offense in the country.

Still a half to be played, but right now UCF is doing something bama couldn't do and that is beat Auburn. If they pull it off it appears they should have probably been included instead of bama.

Of course bama should not have been included in the first place.

It allows all 5 conference champ to be in. Gives the smaller schools a chance. Then 2 at large is plenty fair to me. You want in for sure? Win your damn conference championship first. No guarantees if not. That’s how it should be imo.

Pretty much my exact thoughts as well, I also think that would elevate the G5 conferences as they'd start getting better recruits and create more parity across the board.

They still won and destroyed everyone else.

Also worth noting Memphis put 50 on them, Auburn has barely squeaked out 6. Memphis isn’t exactly bad this year.

Memphis just lost their home bowl game to an average B12 team.

....but but....Memphis, USF, Navy, and SMU.

Nevermind they beat them, and the USF and Memphis wins were at the very least equal to any quality win on Bama schedule.

IF, and I mean IF UCF wins this game, it is case proof they got screwed.

If it’s all about the blue bloods and revenue then Bama should have been picked. No question. But if that’s the case let’s stop the nonsense of calling this a “playoff”.

That GT game was a big one for UCF.

If they would have played that one and won convincingly, they might have had a little more of a case.

So you go from "they were undefeated" to "they destroyed everyone they played" to "they destroyed 7 teams they played".

And yes, WM "destroyed" most of their schedule in 2016, so there goes that argument. And WM had as many wins over P5 teams last year that UCF had this year: 1.
