Because they could beat the team that beat both UGA and Bama. Sure UGA won the second time, but Auburn beat two #1s this season and two teams in the playoffs.
Also because they are, you know, undefeated. How many other teams did that this year? And sure, their conference is the greatest, but they took care of business and steamrolled almost every team they played in the regular season.
Saying they dont have at least have a legitimate argument is short sighted just because they are UCF. These guys can play and are currently up against a legit SEC team.
It's not short sighted at all; their schedule wasn't even close to as tough as the other 4. Saying they should just because they are undefeated without taking into account SOS is silly.
And what is short sighted is judging it based on how they are doing against an SEC team in a bowl game that means way more to them than it does to Auburn.
