Youre wrong either way.
Ive only argued they earned the opportunity to play in the playoffs and got screwed. If they win this game, that is validation.
The only thing Ive heard in this thread that they could have done better is change their OOC schedule or joined a P5 school which is ridiculous. Everything that was in their power to do on the first day of the season they did, and they did it with the best offense in the nation. OK, Clemson, Bama, and UGA cant say the same. In fact, no other team in DivI can say that.
They took care of business this year and tallied a few quality wins. A win over an SEC team that beat two SEC teams in the playoffs is validation. Their overall resume would be at least as good as Bamas, if not better, depending on what Bama does in the playoffs.
Agree to disagree, but this isnt as absurd an argument as you are making it out to be.
Its absurd to use the result of this game as a retroactive validation for them not making the playoff.
Is it an absurd argument as of yesterday to say UCF had a legit argument for the playoffs?
If Wisconsin wins its CG, then absolutely UCF is the odd man out. Once Wisconsin lost, they should have opened the door for the lone remaining undefeated. Especially over a Bama team that didnt win its conference and didnt have a single OOC quality win. If FSU was a 8-10 team, I can see maybe putting Bama in. But Bama effectively suffered from what UCF did, who was on their schedule and how they did this year. Except UCF completed its season.
UCF should have been in before this game, and winning this game demonstrates that.
It does not. If they won a game like this BEFORE the playoff selection, then maybe, but they didn't.
If UCF wins this game I think they got screwed. Just proves we need to go to a 8 team model. 5 conference champions and 3 at large.
So? The fact was that FSU sucked. But Bama was crowned before the season started.
#9 SOS my ass.
Which is precisely why this system is no better than national championships of years past. It is still a popularity contest. If Fitzgerald doesn't snap his ankle, MSU is a top 15 team. Had Francois not went down in opener for FSU, FSU wins 9 games minimum and is another top 15 team. LSU was another top 20 team.
You may not like their schedule but you're not going to have a lot of people on your side if you think Bama isn't one of the top 4 best teams.
At the end of the day, the committee has to pick the 4 best teams for the playoff, not the 4 most deserving.

Conference championship winners should play. Period.
Nope. nice try though. Bama is getting one though.Sorry but I want to see the best teams play. Ohio State is not better than Bama.
USC is not better than Bama.
You're basically saying that UCF deserves a spot because they went 13-0 over Bama. Bama would destroy UCF and so would the other 3 playoff teams.
Its clear you believe everyone should get a participation trophy.
Who's better than Bama that didn't make the playoff?
