So, when is the press conference?

i think this is a concern because it is reality. we must have athletes to trap elite athletes or cause them to turn it over. otherwise, it's like a high school team breaking the press of a middle school team. : )
Well they didn’t really turn Florida over 15/14 in favor of MU… but they won.

They did turnover WF. 24/14 in MU favor…

That’s definitely lower athletes getting results from better.

Am back ,the baseball team run ruled Ala A&M 20-2 for anyone who wants to continue the dialogue with me.....have at it .

My impression was Kim is quite impressive. Will come across very well with recruits. Very believable combination of appropriately overwhelmed and strongly determined. A little nervous, swaying body, which made her feel genuine. I can see how she knocked an interview out of the park. She actually did make me feel better.

Danny White did not. Mr I Love My Own Risky McRisk Decisions set the bar crazy high for immediate success. Maybe the jacket he borrowed from this two sizes smaller son was cutting off the blood flow to his brain. One thing to express confidence, another to be oblivious to the huge challenges Kim will face just to break even. He should have asked for patience. He did her zero favors.

Her task is huge. Looks like the current roster is still in question. Decisions still to be made. Immediate recruiting is everything, portal clock been ticking. But who is her recruiter? Sam is gone, along with all her connections I assume. Even more pressure to recruit, and to recruit certain type players, because not only is she taking on a mammoth job at a level she's never even sniffed, she's doing so while implementing a very demanding system. A system not all, or not many, of the best players will want to play.

Sheesh, I admire her just for the guts to take it on. And I truly wish her well. But I'm scared.
I think it is inappropriate to make fun of White for looking like a big blue overstuffed sausage in that jacket. I would be outraged if anyone had the temerity to suggest that he looked like he was auditioning to play the part of Chris Farley in the iconic tiny jacket scene from Tommy Boy. We must maintain standards on this board.

Same.

As a longtime SNL fan, John Belushi and Chris Farley left this world too soon.

good point. it seems she has a knack for getting players to play beyond their natural abilities.

I was living in New Orleans when Tulane resumed basketball after 4 years of a self-imposed death penalty, following a point-shaving scandal.

Perry Clark had to put together a team from scratch, and discovered at his first practice that the Tulane athletic dept. only had 4 basketballs! Tulane had never been known for basketball success, but he gathered players who could play good defense and would be solid in the classroom to restore the program's ethical reputation.

What they did was very much like what CKC describes. Lots of pressure, lots of shots. Their substitution pattern was to platoon and bring in another 5 players at once, who became known as "the Posse." Clark put his quickest players on the Posse, and they actually scored more than the starting five who were the better shooters.

It was more than just wildly entertaining to watch. They upset teams like Memphis, (Bobby Knight's) Indiana, Louisville, and made Tulane's first ever NCAA Tourney appearance two seasons later.

Maybe because I've seen it up close and seen it succeed, I'm feeling confident that it can work at the highest level of today's college women's game, and as a philosophy not just a gimmick.

A very reasonable question, one that was asked after Heupel's first year about offensive linemen.

On the other hand, Tennessee could become the Mecca for quick, skilled tweeners (in size) who aren't getting a chance on "traditionally rostered" college teams to make their full contributions.

Iowa was loaded with McDAAs

I’d HATE to have Cznano, Marshall, Affoliter, or Davis 🤢

Iowa OSU LSU SC

When u look just at possessions SC LSU and Iowa dominated playing the fastest pace in the country

We provide that now
Has it been long enough to say that A LOT of Luck 🍀 was involved in that LSU title run… A WHOLE FOOKING LOT…

Mulkey can’t even duplicate her success

Who doesn't love a team of scrappy underdog tweeners. But that is not a championship team.

This is the most intriguing basketball hire on all levels that I’ve seen in a long time.

I remember Pat Riley hiring his former video/scout coordinator Erik Spoelstra as head coach of the Miami Heat.

Spoelstra implemented a system of high up-tempo offense and relentless defense. Spoelstra was an unknown coach.

Danny White philosophical approach of hiring Kim Caldwell to get Tennessee back to competing for Nat’l Championships speaks volume. Caldwell is a student of the game and has a strong basketball mind just as Spoelstra. The average person on the outside looking in does not understand how winners adapt. I was apart of Two State Championships. Same philosophy. Same coaching staff. But two completely different teams. What Caldwell did at Marshall is not going to be her blueprint at Tennessee. She is bringing her brand of basketball to an elite program and establishing an identity to match the success of Tennessee. Tennessee should play at a higher level and set the tone once teams get off the bus. That’s Coach Caldwell mindset!

This was a home-run hire for DW.

I realize I'm in the minority in saying this, but I didn't perceive that exchange as being overly chippy. She was definitely direct and confident in her answer, but I didn't think she was so much so that it should have made him feel any kind of way.

She had a fine answer. Maybe Adams actually appreciated her confidence,
Nothing wrong with his question. Anyone offended by his question is looking to be offended. Pretty typical question about style translating to the bigger stage.

Am I wrong or did Pat not use the 1-2-1-1 and the and If I remember the 2-1-2 for a change-up back in the 90's with quite a bit of success at this level. I liked her version of the 1-2-1-1 so much that I ran it with my middle school boys with a great deal of success. Been a long time so I could be wrong on my memory of Pats exact presses but I do remember she loved to run the press to create turnovers on her opponents by speeding them up.

Ridiculous to demand so much in first year.
Danny White is who demanded that level of success in the first year at the introductary presser today. Take it up with him.

This is an issue. I know lots who want to play this way on offense. But finding those who want to play this way on defense and don't mind being subbed for every 3 minutes is a whole different can of worms.
