So, when is the press conference?

Danny White is who demanded that level of success in the first year at the introductary presser today. Take it up with him.

This is an issue. I know lots who want to play this way on offense. But finding those who want to play this way on defense and don't mind being subbed for every 3 minutes is a whole different can of worms.
Danny White did no such thing and you know it .

Am I wrong or did Pat not use the 1-2-1-1 and the and If I remember the 2-1-2 for a change-up back in the 90's with quite a bit of success at this level. I liked her version of the 1-2-1-1 so much that I ran it with my middle school boys with a great deal of success. Been a long time so I could be wrong on my memory of Pats exact presses but I do remember she loved to run the press to create turnovers on her opponents by speeding them up.
I don't think anything in the 90s was quite on this level. Players are so much bigger, stronger, and faster now, and there are so darn many of them. All Pat's presses had the advantage that her pressers were way better athletes than the pressees and could frequently just overwhelm them. Helped that there were far fewer great players, and she had most of them.

Pulling that system off in a league of So Carolinas, etc is a whole different world. Even if we had the elite athletes to do it.

He 100% said he expected the level of success to be raised over the present and to get back to competing for championships the first year. Absolutely said that. Shouldn't have, but he sure did.

So 20 wins and second round NCAA is the floor, according to the man who hired her.

“Good can’t be the enemy of the great.” Will just continue wishing her a good career mentor.

yep. that's how the contract reads as well. there is no grace period it seems. let's go LVs!

Does anyone seriously think that CKC heard anything in DW's intro that was news to her?????
Did she not repeat her ownership of those "demands" in her own speech???

(Nah, this has got to be some radio DJs pranking Volnation ...can't be real.)

Seemed like this year's bunch pressed pretty well in several games but just when it was working Coach Harper took it off, never could figure that. If you are going to press I believe you have to stay committed to it. You do need some athletes but that is doable. Most kids hate playing against good pressure because it makes them a nervous wreck. Just believe that if we commit to it and teach it well that it can and will work. Hope it does and does it well because it is so much fun to watch.

Well they didn’t really turn Florida over 15/14 in favor of MU… but they won.

They did turnover WF. 24/14 in MU favor…

That’s definitely lower athletes getting results from better.

Juju CC Hildalgo Latson Fuwiley all turn the ball over at a high rate.
Fulwiley corrected that issue by mid season…

My impression was Kim is quite impressive. Will come across very well with recruits. Very believable combination of appropriately overwhelmed and strongly determined. A little nervous, swaying body, which made her feel genuine. I can see how she knocked an interview out of the park. She actually did make me feel better.

Danny White did not. Mr I Love My Own Risky McRisk Decisions set the bar crazy high for immediate success. Maybe the jacket he borrowed from this two sizes smaller son was cutting off the blood flow to his brain. One thing to express confidence, another to be oblivious to the huge challenges Kim will face just to break even. He should have asked for patience. He did her zero favors.

Her task is huge. Looks like the current roster is still in question. Decisions still to be made. Immediate recruiting is everything, portal clock been ticking. But who is her recruiter? Sam is gone, along with all her connections I assume. Even more pressure to recruit, and to recruit certain type players, because not only is she taking on a mammoth job at a level she's never even sniffed, she's doing so while implementing a very demanding system. A system not all, or not many, of the best players will want to play.

Sheesh, I admire her just for the guts to take it on. And I truly wish her well. But I'm scared af.
Here is how I really see it. White's let's not let the great be the enemy of the good (a misquote by the way) was clearly a preemptive move to address any criticism for settling pretty quickly on a novice D1 coach. I understand wanting to address "the elephant in the room" but if I had been his PR advisor, I would have doubled down are being the best young coach in the country and we are lucky to have before any one else. But, his response seemed to signal that he is well aware (and maybe little nervous about making the biggest of big gambles ever.

If Danny White is half as smart as his fanboys say, he must have a plan B in place just in case. It might look like thisL

Ringtone: Hi Candace, Danny White, just wanted to double check that you are definitely retiring after this season. Okay, great, well have a wonderful final sea...what, uh yeah, I made need you to save my a$$. Uh, uh, you don't get out of bed for less than 2.5 million plus incentives. Okay, I can make that work and what, I have to refer to you as "My Queen" at all times, well sure, coach is kind of cliche anyway. Okay, Candace, I mean my Queen, I will keep you posted"

True. It was not news to her and she did not shrink from it.

But still a dumb move on his part, and probably explains the deer in headlight eyes from both.

Yes, the misfiting jacket emphasized the look of a cheesy Vegas gambler who knows he's gone too far this time. So why double down on the pressure on her? May be some mega sized ego going on there, or bravado.

Whatever, patience rather than pressure was what was called for. If CKC pulls this off, it will truly be an underdog victory for the ages. Did I hear that her contract also has very little buyout?

Why don't you just come out and say you think AD White is an idiot ,not to be trusted and made a bad hire .You have been nibbling there all day .

Yeah, no worries, but her steals and assists to turnover ratio was actually amazing in second half of season, she was a quick learner. She is going to be a hard one to guard next season, let’s leave it at that.
Oh fr love her

Yep he said that ...but he did not say she would win the Championship next year .I am done with you idiots.

Yep he did say that, just like about 5 of us just told you. Why do people argue with things that are on tape?

And who said anything about 'winning championships"? He said 'competing' for championships exactly as in my post you quoted.

What are we even arguing about? He said what he said and we've all seen it. Why is that never enough any more?

Sorry did not mean to strike a never but I confess that I don’t worship at the church of Danny White. However, I never said he was "an idiot". I said he is taking a big gamble- an obvious and undeniable situation—and since he Is NOT an idiot, I was playfully suggesting that he might have a backup plan in place just in case. Apologies for blaspheming your idol.

Yes

So where are we on assistants? We know her longtime one is coming. Do we know anything official about Sam and Joy?

This seems to be rolling out a bit slowly. The portal is cranking every day and we need a fully enabled recruiting coordinator.

You did the same thing he just did. You didn't call Danny White an idiot .... but @alexvol didn't call him an idol of his either.

It is a gamble, and we don't have anything to go on, except that White does have a nice track record with such things. For what it's worth, I hated the hiring of Josh Heupel at the time it was made. It seemed like White had made a lazy hire of someone he already worked with. Things seem to be working out, however.

Sam and Joy gone for sure I’d be shocked
