So which team/teams get left out of the playoffs?

Bama and uga get rightfully left out. However I would bet one of those 2 wins a NC in a 12 team playoff
If you would expect one of those to win it all if in the field, why would you believe it right to leave them out?

IF FSU had played Tennessee's schedule, I believe there is a very low probability of them finishing undefeated or even finishing better than third in the SEC East and second in the SEC West. If Florida quit playing like a bunch of gang members, they would have had an even better chance of defeating FSU.

1 thing for sure is this Championship will have an asterisk * beside it basically like back in the day Mythical National Champs. There will be more than 1 team claiming it if youre 14 & 0 nobody will never know what would happen or Texas with just 1 loss. Its a miserable system worst in all of Sports.

The regular season has to count. A 4 team playoff doesn't allow for the same leeway as a March madness does. A 12 team playoff does allow for a team peaking at the end of the year

Are we so biased towards the SEC that we automatically believe the teams at the top are the BEST teams? I see everyone always includes Georgia and Bama in their best but no one wants to say why they are the best. Who is to say that if you put one of those teams in say the PAC or the Big 12 or the B1G that they would automatically win every game.

The only way to compare the leagues is by head-to-head games:

- FSU dominated LSU
- Texas dominated Bama
- Miami dominated Texas A&M
- Florida State beat Florida
- Clemson beat South Carolina
- North Carolina dominated South Carolina
- Utah dominated Florida

Georgia refused to play anyone of consequence outside of the SEC. Though I could include Georgia Tech I guess.

Yes there were some victories but Kentucky, Tennessee and Missouri but the SEC did not fare well against other P5 teams.

I think it goes:
MU
Wash
FSU
Texas

I know FSU isn’t as impressive right now and Bama has obviously grown from week 2, but I just can’t punish a Power 5 squad that went undefeated. Further, I can’t overlook the head-to-head vs. Texas.

Also, as an aside and sign of my bias, I don’t want Bama in because I want their fanbase to implode.

Or if Michigan and Washington are clearly the two best teams, it might be a good argument for the BCS.

I mean I don't really want to go back, but it'd be less melodrama.
Yep. Proof that 12 won't satisfy the problem, or 16, or 32. Whoever is left on the bubble and pops will pout and whine loudly regardless. That's why whoever gets left out FSU/UA/UGA/UTjr needs to just shut up now.

Florida State being undefeated in a p5 conference has got to mean something. They played 2 SEC teams OOC. They won their conference. They earned a spot.

Michigan
Washington
FSU
Texas

Alabama and Georgia are not "peaking" at the end of the season. Going into the game last night they were on 11 and 12 (this season) game win streaks respectively.

I understand the "well, undefeated P5 champion" feelings, I do not agree with the notion of a tournament to crown the national champion and leaving out the two teams most expected to win said tournament.

I think Missouri would beat Michigan, and Washington. Anyone who says the SEC is down this year is probably right, and it’s still the best conference.

My top 4 teams
1.Texas
2.Bama
3.Georgia
4.Michigan

Washington would get manhandled by an SEC team at the line of scrimmage. FSU with Travis would be in for me over Michigan.
Georgia lost to a team that needed a fluke 4th and 32 to beat a team that got boat raced by a mac team. SEC should be left out.

The committee can afford to tick off a ton of people by either letting both Georgia and Bama in OR leaving them both out because next year it won't matter anymore.

FSU has no TV viewership, no powerful conference behind them, and there is a plausible reason to leave them out with the injured QB, but they meet the stated criteria of the committee. If its power and money driven—It will be Michigan, Washington, Texas and Bama. It won’t be fair and it won’t be consistent with their criteria. In this scenario, they toss their credibility before they toss their advertising revenue. It really can only go one of two ways: that which is fair, or that which makes the money. It is really hard to imagine Sankey not pulling a hammer out to get one of his teams in, but we’ll see. If he gets his way, FSU is definitely the odd man out.

There really should be no debate. IMO, this is easy.

The three undefeated conference champs have to be in…period.

And Texas beat Alabama head-to-head, convincingly, in Tuscaloosa. Texas has to be the fourth.

If Alabama gets in over any of those teams, it will further confirm what we all know…Alabama has an unfair standing in the game. We know it’s true in the conference. This would just confirm it nationally.
Agreed 100%

Mish.
Wash.
Ala.
Now, the NCAA could call for a play-in between Fla. ST. and Texas.
More money!!!

Not according to the BCS committee. They are supposed to pick the BEST four teams, period. At this point in the college football season, who are the four best teams?

Technically, resumes, have nothing to do with it. Arguments can be made on many sides.

I agree except plugging Washington for Texas. Washington manhandled Oregon at the LOS

I don’t understand how the SEC champ game results drop Georgia 5 spots but only bumps up Bama 3?
Georgia was being propped up all season because they were the 2x defending national champs. That said, they had the softest schedule of any SEC team and lost the only game they played against a top 10 team this year. They deserve to fall hard after yesterday.

I’d put Bama at 5 because I can’t put them higher than 3 undefeated conference champs and the Texas team that whipped them head to head in Tuscaloosa.
