So you are for Beauty pageants and not a champion of football?Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I dislike the idea of putting the four best teams in. If a team has gone the distance won their P5 conference and gone undefeated then how do you keep them out even if they lose all their best guys to injuries on the last game of the season. You do the work and win what your supposed to and you should be in. I don’t care about the eyeball test, and if it gives us occasional games like last years UGA vs TCU then so be it. FSU should not get snubbed.
Too funny as the team Bama scheduled will be in the SEC next year along with Oklahoma who I believe Bama will have to play.
FSU also scheduled a strong team out of conference, LSU, and beat them. Tennessee has over the years schedules strong out of conference teams like Oklahoma and Oregon has had Florida.
And last year Bama was trying to use that Texas win as a reason WHY they should be in the playoff after losing to TN and LSU. You can't have it both ways.
And when the "beauty pageant" contestant ends up making the finals (e.g. TCU last year) after beating one of those BEST teams, what are you going to say?So you are for Beauty pageants and not a champion of football?
Oh so Wake beat Vandy ? Did they beat the better teams or the weak ones ? Sure Fsu beat a struggling LSU team late. That's 1 win. Where is the substance UNC over SC ? Lol let me say that Kentucky beat Divisional Champ in that conference soundly. You can not be serious about the ACC being better than the SEC
No, I’m in favor of the teams that earned it going on to play for a chance at the championship. Should Michigan have jumped the TCU team that beat them into the national championship game last year? They would have likely given UGA a better game because they were better on paper. So you are for Beauty pageants and not a champion of football?
Bama barely beat a 6 & 6 Auburn team that got beat or blown out by New Mexico State. It was basically a lucky throw the odds were like 99.5 to 0.05 to score. Also the ppl saying Bama was bad when Texas beat them by double digits at Tuscaloosa but just kept getting better. They basically lost to Auburn just last week, so I don't buy it.Idc who gets in as long as GA is out, but it's hard to argue against Bama not making it after knocking off the #1, 2x reigning champs, in the SECCG. If UT was in the same position as Bama, I doubt anyone here would say that UT should not be in the playoffs. Heck, people still thought we should be in last season after losing to them in the regular season.
I wanted Alabama to beat Georgia for one reason yesterday. I wanted this whole discussion to blow up this year about is it the best or most resume deserving.
Last year they put TCU in which clearly was not one of the best 4 and the game was terrible.
The reason I wanted the discussion is because next year it will be even more important to get the best 12. Think about it. If next year you pick the 12 with the best resume, then the SEC will probably never get more than 3. Why, because 4-6 teams will all have at least 2 loses even though they will probably be better than then teams who have better resumes. If Oklahoma and Texas were part of the SEC this year as of the last rankings 6 of the 12 teams would be from SEC. No one is going to stand for that.
So I want to see people come out and say moving forward we are looking at best 12 teams and your SOR is part of it but having 0 or 1 loses does not make you part of best 12. Otherwise, Tulane, Liberty and JMU would knock 3 SEC teams out.
Sankey needs to come out and say if we are no longer going by best teams, than the SEC will stay with 8 conference game schedule and we will play no hard out of conference games and we will play as many cupcakes as Michigan and Ohio State play every year to pad our resume.
This debate is even more important to Tennessee fans come next year then it is this year. It is going to become almost impossible to have 0 and probably even 1 loss in the SEC schedule moving forward especially in a 9-conference game schedule.
It must be best 12 teams moving forward or the SEC just screwed themselves with expansion.
Then if we are going to not put best 12 and we are doing beauty pageants then let’s go ahead and go to top 24Next year a team like Liberty will definitely be in the final 12. I would not be surprised to see the best of those get to the final four. Not sure they can win, but I do think they will be able to compete with 5-12.
What? The Big 12 literally already does that. They’re divisionless and the 2 best conference records go to the conference championship game. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State both ended up with the same conference record of 6-2, and Oklahoma State went/got the nod because they had beaten Oklahoma head-to-head. (Not to mention OU is also a double-digit ranking at 12.)The issue with the current conference championship games is conferences refuse to have the two best teams in their conferences play in their championship game. Texas, Michigan and Florida State all played teams with double digit rankings and then everyone is supposed to be impressed when they win. Texas and Michigan played mediocre teams that did not deserve to be in the championship game based upon their record and final rankings. That is where more of the arguments now come from. Could Michigan have beaten Ohio St if they had met again ? Texas would have had to face Oklahoma instead of the lesser Ok St.
Put the teams that earned their shot in. If the best team in the country underperformed and missed their shot by one game, then so be it. You win what’s in front of you, and if you don’t then you didn’t earn it. You seem to want the beauty pageant teams, I don’t care how pretty they are on paper if they didn’t win what they were supposed to.Then if we are going to not put best 12 and we are doing beauty pageants the let’s got ahead and go to top 24
4 best teams in no order: Michigan, UGA, Bama and Texas
4 teams that will make it: Michigan, Washington, FSU, Alabama
4 teams I wish would make it: Michigan, Washington, FSU and Texas
They're not leaving Bama out of the playoff. Sit back and watch. Could also see them putting Texas in there over FSU, but Bama is In. Will be shocked if they're not.
No I don’t want the beauty pagent winners. I’m the opposite.Put the teams that earned their shot in. If the best team in the country underperformed and missed their shot by one game, then so be it. You win what’s in front of you, and if you don’t then you didn’t earn it. You seem to want the beauty pageant teams, I don’t care how pretty they are on paper if they didn’t win what they were supposed to.
