I see the seeding going like this,
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas/Georgia/Alabama
4. Florida State
I’m aware I may catch grief over Fla St due to QB injuries, but how do you leave an undefeated P5 out over 1 loss P5? The arguments can be made in all directions. Glad it’s not up to me to decide. This scenario further proves the need for the expanded playoff.
If it comes down to AL and Texas, Texas should go in. They bear Bama in Tuscaloosa. Granted Bama beat GA but the week before they were lucky to beat a very average Auburn. The last two weeks, Texas beat rival Texas Tech 57-7 and pounded Okla State 49-21.Georgia’s likely playing in the Orange Bowl vs Louisville now.
It’s likely that Michigan and Washington are in. As an undefeated Power 5 school, Florida State will likely also be in barring a massive reshuffling of the rankings.
It pretty much comes down to Texas and Alabama (2 1-loss conference champions who played each other this season), and I’d have a hard time seeing that result not count in the committee’s decision given how they have kept Texas ranked ahead of Alabama from the initial CFP rankings in week 10 through this week.
A win is a win regardless of how ugly it was or despite a miracle play. I wouldn't take anything for the DOBB NAIL BOOT win, or the knuckleball fg against Bama last season. Good teams find ways to win.Bama barely beat a 6 & 6 Auburn team that got beat or blown out by New Mexico State. It was basically a lucky throw the odds were like 99.5 to 0.05 to score. Also the ppl saying Bama was bad when Texas beat them by double digits at Tuscaloosa but just kept getting better. They basically lost to Auburn just last week, so I don't buy it.
So you think FSU would beat Georgia? lmao
Will this be the bama that almost lost to Auburn who lost to New Mexico state the week before? Some of y’all act like the regular season is a single elimination tournament…it is not. Some of y’all forget the committee is charged with selecting the best four teams AT THIS MOMENT to compete in the playoffs. All metrics have merit in the discussion, but in the end it’s supposed to be about which four teams are the best today.
No one I’ve heard advocating for FSU says they believe they are one of the best four. Undefeated is a significant data point, but so is schedule and team health. A healthy UGA beats Bama yesterday, but they weren’t healthy and neither is FSU. Bama lost to TX the second game of the year when they were a mess on offense. That matters, but it is not indicative of the Bama team today.
Think of FSU vs Bama as both are right now. Imagine them playing ten times. Which team do you believe wins six or more? Now do the same with TX and Bama.
I don't understand discrediting barely winning a conference championship. Bama barely won against USF. That's a much worst barely win. Will this be the bama that almost lost to Auburn who lost to New Mexico state the week before?
closet bama and uga fans...
Bama doesnt deserve to be in and neither does uga
FSU defense could shut down some NFL offenses. Also if the ACC was a good conference, there is no way a third string an would lead them to a championship. All Louisville had to do was score 2 touchdowns and they couldn’t do that.
ACC has too many deadweights. VT, BC, Wake, Syracuse, Pitt, Duke, GT. SEC has one deadweight in Vandy. Every other leagues is just like the ACC. It’s easy to get up for one big game every year when you play five cupcakes. Every SEC teams schedule is tough. The SEC is a gauntlet, there is no conference that is similar.FSU defense could shut down some NFL offenses.
Google acc vs sec this year look at that won lost record (hint the sec didnt have a winning record..)
SEC was down this year end of the story, have fun sitting at home bama.
Then if we are going to not put best 12 and we are doing beauty pageants then let’s go ahead and go to top 24
A win is a win but they are saying the win FSU vs #15 Louisville with a top D stat wise is a bad win that part of their argument but a miracle win vs a mediocre Auburn is somehow monumental. I just don't buy it.A win is a win regardless of how ugly it was or despite a miracle play. I wouldn't take anything for the DOBB NAIL BOOT win, or the knuckleball fg against Bama last season. Good teams find ways to win.
It's gonna be messy no matter who gets in or left out between FSU, TX, and Bama. All I know is that the SEC is THE standard in college football and what Bama did was impressive and hard to overlook
Not to mention that in the playoffs Bama can't be assured of having refs controlled by their boy Sankey. In a fairly called game they are at a major disadvantageOne week ago, Bama looked horrible and took a 4th goal miracle to win. FSU will get their 2nd string QB back for the bowl games, so they will be a significantly better team than the one who took the field and won a conference championship tonight. I think you have to value the fact that they won every game and a championship over Bama/SEC (which statistically had a down year).
