I wouldn't dog a strategy and a style of play that prove itself in the SEC and the NFL either. When opponents were intimidated on the line under Chavis...we had a lot more W's on the season. Where he slipped up was recruiting at TN, as he proved at LSU, nothing wrong with the mechanics...they still work and stuffed more then a few teams hopes.

Who will be our next Al Wilson, Leonard Little, Dale Carter, Eric Berry....defensive player that is feared in the SEC? It sure would be nice for a true defensive leader with a bad attitude to emerge.

Negative opinions on message boards have absolutely zero effect on the outcome of games. Besides, I called AJ a stud tackler and run stuffer. He just struggles with pass coverage and that will be exposed against Oregon. That was my only point.

Fair enough then stick with that......but he hasn't even played this year, let's see if his pass coverage has improved.

I disagree though about mood on message boards not effecting anything, cause I also see them in the stands, with a bunch of lame kids standing around too cool to get excited, it sucks the energy out of the stadium. Never saw that until recently.....

A.J. has the head for it, and the hunger, he's just got to get the discipline, and to step up and not accept less from those around him passion wise. It's tough to keep fired up if you got guys around you draggin their feet, and listening to excuses. I don't want him to get better just as a player, I wanna see him start taking being a leader seriously. Players THIS year have got to start getting themselves and the next generation of Vols in a winning attitude.

You used terrible examples; if I had Little and Al's ability I could be an AA. Someone like Dale Jones or JJ McClesky would be better examples.

Both great examples. However, if I said Dale Jones or JJ McClesky many wouldn't know who I was talking about, and I might not be able to find as convenient a vid. :)

Besides I don't know many players of any Era that matched Leonard Little on Passion, I still say his finest hour was when we got beat down by Nebraska...many gave up, but he just played hard to the end, just never seemed to throw in the towel..... he just showed outstanding commitment.

Actually the one I desperately want to use, but have never seen a montage put together for is Andy Spiva. UT department should get his game footage and do one for him. He died too young.

Our D-linemen are going to be very good, our LBs are going to be very good, our safeties are going to be very good. Our CBs will be good enough! We will surprise some teams with our Defense this year, you just wait!

Actually I want to see a Greg Jones/Andy Spiva montage....or get me the raw footage and I'll make it... another Dynamic duo to be sure They were the ones I first watched as a kid....

Yeah Butch has been blazing on recruiting! But I am impatient. We got a lot more talent now then people give them credit for. The change starts now!

AJ does struggle with pass coverage, just 1 step slow not a knock just the truth the whole defence as a whole is a little slow, now you can make up for some of that with team hustle, but not all thats what scares me about our D this year lack of speed on the D.

It's depressing to hear the words "lack of speed" with Tennessee, it used to be us and UCLA for the two best conditioning programs in the country....we got to get that back.
