Okay I have a few questions. Who are the big recruits were going after? How many and who do you actually see us getting? Alsothis may be a dumb question, but what does "silent" commit mean, and whats the point of being a silent if you know good and well your choosing a certain school?

"Silent" commits are overblown. Coaches ask kids to stay silent for a few reasons.

1) Kiffin (and coaches like him) saved guys coming out for media attention. Get beat by UCLA? Let two studs commit publicly the following Monday. Want a lot of attention on signing day? Let a guy wait until they have all the cameras in front of them.

2) Keep pressure off the kid. Opposing coaches don't know for sure where a kid is going they won't negatively recruit against the school.

That being said, "silents" are rarely called correctly.

Vincent Dallas and Jordan Williams are both expected to commit this week.

What's your percentage of each commiting this week?

IMO...Dallas 90%, Williams 90%...I think Dallas coudl decide to hold off until his OV at Bama and Williams could pull a stunner and pick Oregon

Awesome!!

Man..I'm excited about both...but especially Dallas...his junior film is lights out and apparently he's tearing it up this year after coming back from some kind of leg injury

LV....Dallas seems like a really good prospect but i don't know a whole lot about Williams other than he's Saulsberry's teammate. The only thing that concerns me is they are both in Gainesville and UF never even looked at them.

True, but some of that could be due to the fact that they recruited the best D line class in the history of football last year.

The only bad thing I can see if they do is it will renew the "stars" debate here with many "well informed" posters assuring us that UT cannot be competitive with these kinds of players.

I have no idea how accurate the recruiting svc evals are on UT's commits. I don't know if Dooley and company are great talent evaluators.

I am pretty sure however that they want to succeed and stay employed... so I am going to guess that they are very satisfied that these guys can be developed into championship level players.

What are your thoughts here LV? You follow this about as close as anyone here. Are these players as good as the staff thinks or are they 2nd or 3rd shelf players like many here are so sure of based on Rivals/Scout?

I do think both DT's are solid pick-ups, however, we need immediate help next year. I see both needing 1-2 years before they see the field. Are there any other DT's high on UT that could make an impact next year?

I don't think anyone will say Dallas is a 2nd or 3rd shelf player. His offer list is sick. The reason a lot of people get worked up over players like Devrin Young is because of a lack of an offer list.

I'm not a talent evaluator. I have no idea what I'm looking at tbh.

The staff has been on Williams and Dallas hard ever since camp so they must really like them. They have potential, especially Williams. He could end up being big time.

One thing that makes me feel good about the staff's evaluations are Probst, Crump, and Sapp. They were recruited as last minute guys nobody else wanted and are now looking pretty solid and even playing in front of higher rated guys who have been on campus for a couple of years like Askew, Mitchell-Thornton, Nelson, Raines, and Wilks.

Stars or no stars VD's offer list is ridiculous

I'm not trying to argue with you but would he be any less of a talent if no one wanted him? Has Askew been a worthwhile scholarship though everyone wanted him?

Guys like Young are either players or they aren't. Right now... it seems he is more likely to contribute than Askew.
