So who will be our next commit plus...

The consensus seems to be MLB so I may be wrong on Probst. I wish I could say OLB in the 3-4.

I have a feeling Wilcox is going to have about 7 LBs get significant snaps when he's able to install the D he wants.

They'll be playing all over the place and blitzing from all kinds of angles. It will be fun to watch.

So I went over to a USC board yesterday out of boredom to see if/how much they were freaking out after their second loss. I also wanted to see what they thought about Monte since their defense is so awful. The funny thing is the OP stated that they had all these highly-rated players on defense, and was wondering how the D could be so bad. The majority of posters that responded stated that the players had low football IQ's and that they didn't "get it". They stated that they didn't care how many stars a player had, and that it will take getting in recruits that the staff wants to be able to run their system effectively(even though they've run the Tampa 2 before now). I contrast that to our board and it seems that everyone here wants all of the highly-touted recruits, everything else be da****. I just thought that was really interesting how with both of our teams struggling, but for different reasons, the two fanbases seem to have opposite views. USC fans want more guys that "get it", that the "coaches want to fit their system", and that stars don't matter. It seems that everytime that gets mentioned around here the mob is after the poster.

Pretty predictable, actually. :good!:

Losing means that somebody is to blame. The coaches are recruiting the wrong players, or they're not coaching them up, or the players are lazy.

OTOH, winning is the deodorant that cures everything!

Austin Johnson has a lot to prove as tackler. I really want to see him fill the running lane and playing downhill. Propst looked to be playing downhill. And if he plays like that come spring he'll start. Lathers will have a battle on his hands for the weak side. While I think King will start on the strongside. Lathers may be starting now but he doesn't make a lot of big plays.

Austin Johnson hasn't been settled into a position since he's been here.

He went from MLB to FB back to MLB. I'll give him a full year at MLB before saying Propst starts over him. That's not a knock on Propst either. I think he's a fine LB.

So you guys are saying that some of these 3* and even 2* players are going to be good? Is someone suggesting that Dooley and staff found talent that most overlooked?

If so, I hope it proves to be a pattern and not an anomaly.

yes and yes.

according to Dooley, Crump, Probst, and Sapp are gonna be getting more reps in practice and more playing time.

Are they really thinking of keeping Sapp at S? I have long believed he would end up at LB.

Star count evaluations are often driven by offer lists, not the reverse.

Just want to make sure that I'm understanding correctly - are you saying that the services take offer lists into consideration? If yes, Rivals specifically responded that their ratings are based solely on their evaluations, and the offers have no bearing whatsoever. This came in response to a fan inquiry on why Kerbyson was not a 4* when so many major programs had seriously pursued him?

Personally, I thought their response sounded a bit disingenuous. Sure seemed like a few players climbed in the rankings over the last few years when they committed to 'Bama or UF. But I have nothing more than an opinion.

Everybody in the South wants Vincent Dallas. Pulling him in would be a very good get.

Just want to throw this kids name out there. Junior DE Chris Wormley. I am going to watch this kid play tomorrow night. I think he is already rated as a 4 star player. He has a few offers already and I know Ohio State offered a couple of weeks ago. His teammate commited to the Buckeyes last year as a junior. Search for him on scout.com if you want, I wish CCS and CDD knew about this kid, if they don't already. He is also a great kid off the field from what I here about him.

Sorry, no can do. Too many stars, must have character issues. Also probably outside 300 mile limit.

That is funny. It is about 500 miles from here to Knoxville and about 8 and a half hours. I do know some of his family members and he is a really good kid. In his schools of interest the only S.E.C. team listed is the Gators. Wish they could get him down there for a vist to Neyland sometime.
