So with Saban off the table, where does Texas look now?

Football Scoop reporting Franklin and Strong are the two finalist for Texas. Decision expected in 24 hours.

So who's coaching Wyoming these days? Texas has had success going that route before (DKR and Fred Akers).

I just saw where Briles said he was committed to staying at Baylor...kiss of death?

Reminiscent of...
"I will NOT be the coach at Alabama"...

ESPN Dallas reported that Saban did not travel to Tuscalooser with the team
:yikes:

Maybe Franklin to Texas, Saban replaces him ar Vandy!!!

Yea I know it'll never happen, but you have to admit there'd be enough butthurt in multiple locations to make this hilarious to even imagine LOL.

Seems Briles was dictating terms to them and they took their ball and went home.

Art Briles........ (page 38).

Burton has been very clear about what happened. Briles wanted the job without having to interview for it. He wanted assurances that the interview was a formality. We would not give him those assurances, so he said "pass".

If true, that's a little arrogant on Briles part. If you think you're good enough to deserve the job then interview like a man and your credentials will rise to the top.

@BUBear - I could be wrong, but I seem to recall that Briles and Texas (or individuals within Texas) had some issues in the past which made it seem unlikely he would go to Austin. Does this sound familiar? It's possible I am mistaken on this.

I was kinda happy he turned us down. He had the top qb prospect this year, and didn't do much.

He was 3 pts from going undefeated and that team he lost to just beat the brakes off the Big 12 champ, the same team that pounded OU, the same team that dismantled Bama, the program who has owned us for 7 years. And that UCF team was 2 pts away from being undefeated themselves losing only to S. Carolina. You're greatly diminishing the accomplishments of both UofL and UCF.

So....by your logic:

UT > USCjr > UCF > Baylor > Oklahoma > Alabama

Sounds legit

My point was showing that UofL and UCF were both legit teams. If you don't think both would've wiped the floor with us you're an idiot. How many BCS bowl appearances/wins does Butch have? If we're going to tout Butch's resume we can't diminish Strong's, especially given Butch followed a proven winner at his first two stops and Strong followed the mess that was Kragthorpe.

Strong started with a dumpster fire much like we're in and had to build that program back. To say he had a once in a lifetime QB and without him he's a question mark is just as "legit". He recruited and developed Teddy B, therefore he deserves all the credit that comes with him. The question could also be asked if not for CS and Co. does TB turn out as good?
