So with Saban off the table, where does Texas look now?

i won't believe saban is off the table til after texas hires the new coach and shows him on espn with the press conference saying who they hired. anyone that thinks saban is off the table is off their rocker.

Last i heard was that Saban has yet to sign the alabama contract extention.

How does that seem obvious to you? They won't go after either one imo. I don't see them being a good fit at Texas.

Fisher would fit fine, and he's been butting heads with the admins at FSU since he got there. That said, he's not going to bolt when he has Winston for another year.

It's obvious because it would have leaked already if another option was present. They could also be waiting for NFL season to end but not likely. They will make a run at Fischer and/or Mahlzan.

I really think if they throw huge money in Gus's face he'd be hard pressed not to go "home" to Texas. $5mil, one of the best/easiest states to recruit in, especially fresh off a NC run, and he knows the area well not only being from TX but from his time at Arky, Tulsa and Ark St.

I think this is their best option.

With Penn State looking like it's going to open up, I decided to go look at shaggybevo again. It's a consensus on there that franklin is not being considered. A lot of them think it will be Mora. An auburn fan said it will be Saban, or Jimbo. And mack wants more money!

Should clear up soon. If no rumors pop after each bowl game is played it will be obvious their targets are on either Fischer or Gus.

I don't think Gus has any ties to Texas other than being born there. I think he would be an excellent hire. Part of me hopes he is gone, especially with Auburn on the schedule next year.

Auburn not on the schedule. Ole Miss took the West rotation spot

I think after their bowl game tonight we'll start hearing names. Probably want Mack to have all the attention since he's become a attention hog.

This morning on 104.5 the Zone Frank Wycheck "reported" that a credible source told him Saban has a 10 year 100 million offer on the table from Texas and that it includes some sort of provision whereby Saban can collect the entire 100 million if he stays at 5 years.

I have heard enough of Wycheck's take on the subject to feel confident saying his source is The Rant's coaching changes board.

Only someone with terrible concussionn issues would believe that Texas is going to offer a ten year contract, but they will pay the entire ten year's worth of salary if the coach quits after five. That's essentially a 20 million per year deal.
