Socialism vs Capitalism

Speaking of socialism: We are now spending 451 BILLION a year to take care of illegals. They are soooo worth it, and deserve every penny they get.
This situation will only worsen so long as we have an administration that is a bunch of America hating losers.

Oh, and it gets better. Those coming here are lazy, worthless pieces of scum, and need to be cut off from everything.

He's saying if Bezos were taxed more, and the proletariat were taxed less, they would spend more this increasing Bezos' tax burden. It would result in increased tax revenue. It's idiotic
No, I'm saying it would increase his wealth more than if the middle class paid instead of him. Increasing tax revenue increase or decrease is outside the scope of what I'm talking about. Basically, I'm saying I think he'd (and we'd) be better off if he paid the taxes himself, or that amazon would pay the wealth the tax for its shareholders instead of an income tax.

Wow--such an angry, racist comment. You must be proud.

If they were lazy, they wouldn't have gone to the considerable trouble to get to American in the first place. In fact, the one thing immigrants
are not is lazy--just the opposite--and if you knew ANYTHIN about immigrants, you perhaps wouldn't have made such a stupid, vile statement.

No they don't
Yes, I'll give you this but "bad" policy is subjective
No, unless they deserve protection
Yes, I'll give you that but stealing it from me in the form of taxes and then lining politicians pockets with 90% of it is not making me happy
And I'll need a link for the last phrase.

Your comment is ignorant. A strong tax system is the mark of a stable society. We use taxes for good purposes....

So all immigrants are alike?

France has some of the highest taxes (the highest depending on the year you look at) in the entire world. And they would be the poorest of all 50 states if they were a state.

Please educate us with your extensive knowledge about immigrants.

I gaining ground in my understanding. Thanks for providing clarity.
You aren't talking about tax revenue. Understood.

What taxes are you considering for Jeff Bezos to pay himself? Income, capital gains, Corporate, Wealth, all???

If you are a proponent of a wealth tax, why is it better or worse if Amazon pays it for shareholders or shareholders pay it themselves?

I know plenty of hard working immigrants. Some of them are my friends. They did it the right way though, they're good people. I am not surprised that you resulted to the race card, it's what ignorant liberals do when they have no real argument. I posted evidence that those coming here now are lazy, worthless, and nothing but burden to us. A very small percentage are even trying to work. I guess that's fine with you though.

I think the idea would be to replace income and capital gains taxes, basically all federal taxes other than social security and Medicare with the wealth tax.

The idea of having the company paying for the shareholders is that jeff wouldn't pay the wealth tax directly himself (or any of the other amazon shareholders). The company would pay for them.

Thanks for working with me on this one.

This line was in your post on Thursday wrt wealth tax:
Most proposals for a wealth tax are modest starting at .5% at $500k and peaking at 2.5% at 2.5m.

if you're suggesting we replace almost all federal tax with a .5% to 2.5% wealth tax, then it's a suggestion worthy of consideration. The problem is not all weath generates money. So some people will have to exchange their asset for cash by selling and then pay tax. That's a non starter.

The only way people like me buy in is if there is a constitutional amendment abolishing all other taxes and locking the percentages in. Which, of course, will never happen. But it is fun to consider.

You raise some good points about problems with a wealth tax. The other issue you have is the question of what constitutes confiscation of wealth. The idea of a wealth tax isn't to pauperize people. I've seen a formula something like wealth tax rate plus inflation/cpi must be less than a treasury benchmark like 10 or 30 year treasury bonds, so that the possibility of building wealth under a wealth tax exists. Maybe this would allay some your concern about the need for a constitutional amendment.
