I also think the OU scheduling was terrible.

I'm all for a home and home against them and I think it will be a fantastic environment in Norman, but dang... Wait until we aren't rebuilding! Lol

Yeah the OU game alone is why our strength coach has to take it to another level this summer. We NEED our guys at exceptional physical conditioning to get through this schedule

Imagine if we traded OU for a winnable game... we would be sitting pretty right now. But NOOOO we have to play the #1 hardest schedule every single year. It ends up hurting us a lot. We already play Bama.

Look at it like this if we do go 6-6 or 7-5 with the hardest schedule in the SEC it will go along way with recruits.

I don't particularly love the Oklahoma game on the road this year either, but it does mean we get to pound them in Neyland in 2015. Should be a nice coming out party for our SEC East run.

While I don't think we will win I do hope we beat them up a little. Hope we do them like we did UGA last year take them to the wire and make them feel that game for the rest of the season.

Soft is all you can say, the draft should have confirmed this fact. This years OL is going to be tough and hard noise and that's what we need in the trenches, a group that say NOT ON MY WATCH and we got some of those type of players.

DL is going to need to grow up FAST, although we have some talent the DB and LB is going to have carry the load until they furious.

Very realistic we beat one of OU or Bama. Legacy power and a will to dominate. Upgraded talent at every position .

The thing that gets me about OK is Trevor Knight. I know that he has great potential, but he really only had the 1 truly great game. Well, an incredible game that happened to be against AL. Here are the season stats and the bowl stats.

2013 CMP ATT YDS TD INT
Season 47 90 471 5 4
Bowl 32 44 348 4 1

I don't know how seriously OK will take us coming in to Norman. Possibly like we are taking UT State coming to Neyland. I know we will take it seriously.

I think this game depends on how we are viewed, and how ready we are to play.

Would love for you to be right about OU or the gumps and wth is "legacy power"?

Legacy power is a collective energy that will change the direction of the program. The team will feed off the the will power of these stars and the blood lines of former greats will continue in their fathers/ brothers footsteps. This team will hit you hard and fast and our opponents will be shocked at the speed and heart displayed.

Hey, what is this in the first post about Tennessee getting beat up at oklahoma...I remember when Tennessee did the beating up. It's football and the VOLS aren't going there with a bunch of softies. Our men are going there to play their men, I believe we give as good as we get.

This year will require a lot of drinking win or lose, just like every year

Celebration drinks always taste better than sorrow drowning drinks.

Regardless, it's important to remember that the fans are in the off-season as well. It's our job to continue our drinking regiment so we're ready this Fall!

Did you listen to the interview ? He was all cheerleader. His interview is in hour 2 of the Hooker podcast 6/5/2014

He is an Oregon season ticket holder yet he does have an affinity for Tennessee. If memory serves, he tweeted a pic wearing an Oregon shirt and a UT hat in Eugene last year.

I wouldn't say he is a homer for either team however.

If you look at what his numbers predicted last year, you will see where he said that the UT wasn't an easy out for UGA, that we would comfortably win Western Kentucky when people were hyperventilating over them, for example. His numbers are usually pretty good.

He is also incredibly personable. I have had the opportunity to speak with him a few times, directly and electronically, about sports evaluations that we share in common. He's a very nice guy, and sharp.

I don't think they will take us lightly. But Stoops teams have been known to start the season slow.

We were an inch shy of one win, & a half a Saban away from preventing a loss. Would have been 7 wins last year. A bounce, an inch here or there & someone coming up an inch or Saban short, who knows? Could be a nine win season, or a five win season. Speculation is. You never know what a team will do, they are different every year. All of them are.

You are exactly correct. I can care less about beating Ohio Valley teams. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Our tradition has been beating the likes of Miami, FSU, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, UCLA, and the best of the SEC. Doug Dickey brought the program back up in 1965 by beating a Rose Bowl bound UCLA team. Majors made headlines by destroying a good Notre Dame team in Neyland in 1979 to get national recognition. Oklahoma is an opportunity and a test. A good coach looks at it as an opportunity.

We are Tennessee and this is still Rocky Top. If we feel that we can not compete, then we need to assess the reason why? Or maybe leave the SEC and join the Sunbelt where our fans can be "satisfied."

But Tennessee does not lower the bar for anyone. If you think otherwise, then you need to give Inky Johnson or Coach Majors a call.

I've been saying that about the OU game for a while.
Stupid. As if UT is in a position to get into a peter measuring contest. "We don't back down from no one."
Whatever. If you think UT football is any better from that azz whooping in Oregon last year, then please do tell. That game not only hurt the record, but it beat up the team and hurt us against UF.

If you replace Oregon with a Utah State, UT is bowling last year at 6-6. If they managed a bowl win, then you have a winning season. Does that help the program? Heck yes. Yet some of these testosterone tools think that getting spanked by Oklahoma is a good thing. It's not.

It also could have been a 4 win season if not for a miracle catch against So. Carolina.

Losing to Oregon wasn't the problem. Losing to Vandy was. The Oregon game should have helped us against UF, but it didn't.

So you replace Oregon with a creampuff, go to a 4th tier bowl, and beat a Tulsa type team. Does that really make you feel a whole lot better about the program? Afterall UT still would have lost to: UF, UGA, Bama, Auburn, Mizzou, and Vandy! The measuring stick shouldn't be to beat directional schools but to win games in the SEC.
