Something that caught my eye....

Why care either way? I enjoy posting on here, but ultimately it's as meaningful to UT's football program as the progress I make with my UT dynasty on Playstation.

Yet, as some will point out, there have been many coaches monitor message boards for just this reason. So they know what the recruit is talking about when they bring something up from on here or other places.

I support Dooley and any other coach that coaches for UT but when they screw up we're going to talk about it. There have been some mistakes by this staff at points during this offseason. I see no problem with calling out this staff for those mistakes. If there is no criticism, there is no accountability.

That said I think half the idiots on here who post the same negativity should be banned. I have no problem with a differing opinion but good lord don't beat it into the ground. I also feel the same way about the blind homers who would eat chicken crap if the coach said it was chicken salad.

He's acting like we are freaking Vandy kpt. That's why I responded the way I did. Besides, we won't know Dooley's worth for quite sometime.

Maybe freaking are Vandy. I doubt it, but Bobby Johnson did pretty well at a lower level and then failed to significantly improve the Commodores. Not every coach is cut out for rebuilding jobs. Even some good coaches would struggle mightily and ultimately never succeed with the situation UT is in right now. I haven't come out and declared Dooley will fail, but I'm not going to argue with those worried that he will. It's a legitimate concern.

CatsPause is maybe the most vitriolic message board on the Internet, but I don't see John Calipari's recruiting suffering because of it.

I doubt these kids, who are likely to embark on a career in football, are doubting their own instincts due to the chatter of some random internet folk.

DD needs to realize that winning cures all.

That should be his primary focus.

Lofton4Three should realize that while that probably IS DD's primary focus (duh)... he is probably dwells in reality though and understands that the program he inherited isn't ready to win at a level that "cures all".

Vandy's football resources are no where near UT's. That's not even a fair comparison to put Vandy in, IMO. Vandy has always struggled, and will continue to, SEC or not. You take them out of the SEC, and they might win 4 games a year. The lure of the SEC is the only thing that keeps them somewhat relevant.

Reading this thread, I find it truly amusing that our coach knows what happens with these kids in recruiting and things that affect their decisions, and people are scoffing at the thought this could happen. Classic VN banter.

Part of this negativity is the price you pay for putting the gag order on the assistants and running everything through the head man. It isn't that Dooley can't tell "his side" of the story. It is that he chooses not to.

The coaches can't talk about recruits at all, assistants or HC alike. So, they can't do anything to defend themselves.

I find it truly amusing you think Derek Dooley said internet message boards hurt recruiting.

People should know that everytime Vandy wins an angel loses his/her wings.

I think our football program is headed straight down the crapper. Why should I pretend otherwise?

It's called fanhood, even if your team isn't doing well you stick by them and SUPPORT them. There are chicago cub fans who support the cubs more then you do UT, and their over 100 years without a WS. Loyalty, look it up.

You think Vandy is relevant in C-USA or the ACC, I think not. Our TV contract is what is helping them right now, but they still don't get the play that most all other SEC schools get.

Kids aren't going to Vandy simply to play in the SEC.

If he is as eloquent and bright as he is billed he could effectively communicate his side if he wanted to.

Yet, if it wasn't for the SEC, they wouldn't get NEAR the amount of athletes they have right now. Your not going to recruit these kids strictly based on academics now are you??

I have no problem separating my opinion of the coach from my support of the team. It's homers like you who think the two entities are equal.

I think he just did, but most will miss it. :good!:

He's telling us to help things stay positive, so that way these impressionable kids see it as that also.

So, what was he saying Sigmond??

You taling about Freod?

He said he is concerned that inaccurate information can get out there. He then said it can cause a negative reaction in a recruit and a negative reaction in a fanbase. At no point did he specifically say a negative fanbase reaction can cause a negative recruit reaction. You made that leap yourself.
