Something that caught my eye....

I think he just did, but most will miss it. :good!:

He's telling us to help things stay positive, so that way these impressionable kids see it as that also.

He quite clearly said he doesn't like recruiting professional spreading inaccurate info. That was the focus of the comment.

Lofton4Three should realize that while that probably IS DD's primary focus (duh)... he is probably dwells in reality though and understands that the program he inherited isn't ready to win at a level that "cures all".

Who gives a rats furry rectum if people are negative or not? He knew it coming into the SEC. Quit pissing and moaning in your once a month interview to the public.

Just do your job and win. Although, with his head coaching record, I know I'm asking a lot.

Also, sounds like his reaching out to PF helped. If anyone knows about excuses, it's PF.

Yet, if it wasn't for the SEC, they wouldn't get NEAR the amount of athletes they have right now. Your not going to recruit these kids strictly based on academics now are you??

You act like they are getting the cream of the crop.

CatsPause is maybe the most vitriolic message board on the Internet, but I don't see John Calipari's recruiting suffering because of it.

Football recruiting and basketball recruiting are an apples to goats comparison. Beyond that, UK is one of CBB's greatest traditions. Calipari has name recognition on par with Meyer and Saban when it comes to recruiting. Needless to say, their whiney fans aren't going to be taken with the same degree of seriousness as a program perceived to be in decline under Fulmer that was then dissed by Kiffin.

You taling about Freod?

He said he is concerned that inaccurate information can get out there. He then said it can cause a negative reaction in a recruit and a negative reaction in a fanbase. At no point did he specifically say a negative fanbase reaction can cause a negative recruit reaction. You made that leap yourself.
what always concerns you is information getting put out that may cause negative reaction by your fan base and may cause a negative spin to recruits
Not exactly sure how you missed this sentence. Maybe you skipped over it.

Yes, AND if we don't spin that info negatively, it will have a much smaller effect on recruiting, than if we turn that info from a ant hill to a mountain.

Well Eric, If you're talking about saying, "this deal with the kid driving down and not being on the list, that shouldn't happen." I disagree...

BUT if you're talking about saying, "Trip is way down on the board, They've got guys rated much higher..." I agree

I think you can criticize the coach/staff without being a schmuck towards a potential recruit.

So wait, a negative fanbase doesn't have anything to do with the perception of recruiting to recruits??

So let's see. 70% of the quote is him talking about recruiting professionals putting out inaccurate information and the negative consequences resulting from it. However, you believe his point was that fans shouldn't behave negatively because that pushes recruits away?

Do you think if they weren't in the SEC that they would even get the players that are getting right now?? Answer that honestly please.

As it stands, they are getting the worst players in the SEC. Yeah, I think they could keep that up. These guys just lost to freaking Army and Duke.

In regards to a few supposed situations we have encountered this year on the recruiting trail. This is from a Wes Rucker interview with Coach Dooley, and should shed some light on the subject for some of the people that don't quite understand how information is processed and presented by the recruiting services....

So, before you go running your mouths about things, make sure you realize that our HC understands how message boards and other negative things our fan base creates because of articles and other things. Also, understand that it's not just on here that negativity can be spread in recruiting, sometimes it's just word or mouth that causes it to become an issue.

So, my best advice to those who like to spin things negatively on the coaches and program, be careful what you say and do, because you may just get your wish that we will suck. Because it's all about perception for these kids, so the more positive the better for our program, and the likely-hood that recruits will be more receptive to our school.

That's not how I interpret that quote. I don't think he's saying that because our fan base is negative it puts a negative spin to recruiting. He's saying these recruiting services put out crappy info and it pisses off the fans and negatively affects recruiting. The cause is the recruiting services, the effect is mad fans and less favorable recruiting. I don't think he's saying mad fans are negatively affecting recruiting at all. Not to say that doesn't happen, but I don't think that's what he's getting at.

Please don't act like one doesn't have to do with another. You know as well as I do that if a perception of a program is one that is negative, the top players won't even consider them. Look at what happened with Florida State the past few years or so.

Who gives a rat's furry rectum if whiney fans don't like the hire or not? They should have known that UT was NOT an attractive gig when Kiffin abandoned the Vols less than 3 weeks from NSD. Quit moaning and groaning daily... ad nauseum.

Just do your job and win.
Just be a fan and stop spinning everything negative and way out of proportion.
Although, with his head coaching record, I know I'm asking a lot.
Knowing the history of many here... I'm asking the impossible.

Also, sounds like his reaching out to PF helped. If anyone knows about excuses, it's PF.

Yeah... and your hero constantly suggested about the roster being the reason he couldn't win... a roster that produced 6 NFL draftees... you can be sure that there won't be that many one year from now.

Yeah, and getting the worst players if you are in C-USA is somehow better than the worst players that come into the SEC??

I don't have to act any way. You mocked everyone for acting like they know better than Dooley when you didn't even know what Dooley was saying.

Just let it go Eric, they have their minds made up about Dooley. It won't matter what any reasonable fan says on this board.

This doesn't even have anything to do with Dooley though, this is an overall attitude that effects the program and the people around it. If anyone else were here, most of these responses would be different, and there would be people who aren't ready to go into battle with Dooley, that would walk through fire with their wanted coach.
