Sousa out as director of the POSL...

it's not that difficult a concept. you are free to speak but also free to accept the consequences...

that being said I don't think that's what Sousa was trying to do at all.

Tennessee is amazing because it has preserved so many wonderful traditions in a constantly changing world. I think because of it members of the university---18 to 22 year old kids---were petitioning to save the band because it is a unique honored tradition. you cannot possibly understand it until you are watching another game and wondering where that typical third down music is or when you hear the classic rocky top the way the band plays it.

it has nothing to do with those traditions inciting fear into our opponent and they didnt become traditions because we used to win a lot... it has to do with the fact that tennessee is a unique place and probably one of the last in the country that values tradition over following the crowd and values history rather than focusing on just the present and future. obviously you must adapt and maybe that is where Sousa went wrong but I don't think he was trying to stir up ****. I think he's put up with a lot of **** over the years and maybe he wanted the admins to understand that its not just him or the the traditional old folk who want UT to honor tradition.... its the new and current students. and that is obviously the truth.

By releasing a letter publicly, Cheek is essentially doing the exact thing he criticized Sousa of doing.

I don't know the whole situation, but I do know that Jimmy Cheek is a booger eater and therefore has no standing in matters of importance.

Except it's an official communication, so it is subject to a FOIA filing, which is what the News Sentinel did to obtain it. UT released Cheek and Martins letters to Souza because they were legally required to after the KNS and WBIR filed a request for all documents relating to disciplinary action.

I have 4 tickets to the game saturday and I just gave them away. I will not be part of a circus in front of a National TV audience because my University is run by a booger-picker..

This is NOT the way to resolve matters, they are acting more childish than Congress and that is certainly saying something.

So, GO VOLS, i'll be watching on TV until this BS is resolved.

Edit: I should say that I support the Band 10000%, it is one of the best gameday traditions around -- and they should have worked this out behind closed doors, but now that it is public -- YOU WANT A FIGHT UT?? YOU GOT ONE.

Wow. What a shame. I'll be happy to take those tickets off your hands, brother. I know several friends that would give anything to go see the Tennessee Vols play football in historic Neyland Stadium.

Can't wait to see VN try to tackle FOIA.

That's convenient

So the band director is more important to you then supporting the actual players on the field? How is this a circus in front of national television? Do you really think people tuning in for an SEC football game really give a rats ass about who our band director is? UT wants to jazz up the game day atmosphere and I'm all for that. Sosua was an employee and he undermined his superiors. I have no problem with his firing. Yes his immediate superiors are tools but they are still his boss. Change is good (see gray jersey's).

Booger The Cheek!! And his little Crimson buddy, Alabama Dave Fart!!

Dave was ASSISTANT AD at Alabama for a short time, and that after being HEAD AD at Florida State for a lot of years.

Could you or another passionate Hart hater give a legitimate reason why he is called BAMA Dave and not Seminole Dave, and why he is not qualified to be the UT AD. Legit Q.

It's convenient that they're legally required to provide employees written notice of a change in job status? Or it's convenient that all written notices are legally required to be released upon request?

Did I miss somewhere in Cheeks letter where he notifies Souza of a change in job status?
