They should hire a proven head coach instead of taking chances on Defensive Coordinators.

They should try that others Stoops...the one that coached at Arizona (I think)...whatever his name is.

Been saying this. UK's athletic department has money but wants to go the cheap route when it comes to searching for a head coach.

Honest question, what makes you say that? The AD has poured a ton of money into the program and given Stoops a lot.

They did put a pretty penny in their new training facility. I'm honestly surprised they blew that lead. I didn't watch it, but at 35-7 (I think), it's shocking.

I just don't think we had any better options to be honest other than Stoops. At the time we hired a very good OC on paper, got some very good assistants.

We used Dawson as a scapegoat for last season and look what it got us :eek:lol: Seeing his clown act score 34 straight on us.

Shocking in the way we went from making USM look like a bunch of bums, to literally forgetting how to play. It honestly looked like we didn't even try in the 2nd. Once the plays went the other way our players gave up, which is a very poor reflection of Stoops.

I agree. My two best friends went to the game. I knew something was odd when they stopped texting every few minutes.

Bob Shoop is making a million here. UK could pay him 3-4 million to be the HC there. Within the next couple years I expect someone to give him a shot. With Vandy likely looking as well, I could see Shoop having some options shortly.

Why would he want to go to a coaching graveyard, though?

I doubt either school goes the DC route this time. If both jobs come open, they'll go after young mid-major HCs. Or retreads from P5 jobs.

Most guys who are coming up through the ranks with HC aspirations feel they can be the guy to get a school over the hump. UK being a school that the hump is winning 7-8 a year. Being able to triple or quadruple your salary is the obvious reason a guy like Shoop would take it on. He takes it and fails 3-4 years from now, the 10-15 million makes it worth the risk.
