Yeah, I think that might be what they will call the first Lunar Starship.
First time I’ve heard them use that name. The starships in the moon base picture seem to be an enhanced version so it would make sense that it could be those being referenced.

i love the science of lets test this extremely complicated and expensive thing until it breaks to find out what happens.

its very technological, but its also caveman AF.
Meanwhile, Boeing, ULA, or Blue Origin would have spent years running computer simulations before even starting on the hardware. That is why we have been stuck in Low Earth Orbit for more than 50 years now

I still get this feeling they are talking with SpaceX about a "lunar transfer Starship" or some such thing that takes astronauts from LEO to cis-lunar space?

Not a reentry vehicle... yet, but that's likely on the horizon as well if they can slow from the speeds coming from lunar trajectory.

SpaceX already has the contract. A lunar lander Starship to transfer from the gateway station in lunar orbit to the lunar surface.
