The interesting angle here that no one seems to be talking about is that most H1B engineers would probably not be able to get the necessary clearances to do meaningful work on SpaceX technologies. Rocketry is considered militarily applicable technology and is heavily restricted in terms of foreign workers.
and the Biden DOJ is still sueing him..🤡

Those clowns can’t be gone soon enough.

I don’t think it will be a problem.

That's a good article. It's kind of interesting that elon himself benefitted from an h1. He seems to be at the forefront of basically every emerging technology at this point. Where would we be without him? Maybe we should let businesses decide who can give them the best opportunity for success, whether it be foreign or domestic. We've had problems coming up with enough domestic engineers for domestic chip production facilities based on what I've read.

America first, though.

Unless of course it's better financially not to.

The Chinese as an example have infiltrated our universities, defense contractors, intel agencies...you name it. They have stolen the designs for even our flagship technology like the F35 and F22 stealth fighter programs. Its absolutely ridiculous and anyone involved should have been hung for treason publicly in DC and left swinging. There is no excuse for the abject failure of our government to protect American intellectual property and tech, from our military, schools, private companies and individuals. "Protectionism" in that regard does put the US and Americans first and needs to be seriously overhauled. Its the Liberal policies that undermine us and keep us doing whats best for this country. Insanity. There are thousands of Chinese for example that need to be deported as we speak. I dont know why we even allow students from China to come study here...its completely asinine. They are our adversary. They are rapidly building their military to confront ours, and some of the highest ranking Generals there openly call for war against the US...ASAP. Screw them, and any other nation that has interests counter to ours. The number of people that need to be deported is in the tens of millions, and Bidens admin damaged this country more than any which came before it. Shameful. The Democrat Party is 100% responsible and will be held to account when the terrorist attacks begin here etc. Liberalism is a mental disorder...and the Dimwit Party is a boil on the ass of humanity.

Yes, because he will pay them. They will leave US Aerospace companies in droves.
But what if the best engineer for the job is from germany? Or india? Or maybe even china? Not having the best talent could give put the company at a disadvantage. This country has always been known as melting pot as far as that goes.

It isnt just that, spacex has defense contracts and is ITAR limited. They literally can’t hire foreign nationals. This whole lawsuit is silly.
I think it largely depends on what systems the prospective engineer would be working. Propulsion, structures, software, and thermal protection all have defense applicability. Life support and other similar technologies probably wouldn’t be.
That said; this wouldn’t even be an issue today if American Universities hadn’t stopped emphasizing STEM degrees in favor of woke gender studies, social Justice, DEI, and anti colonial studies junk diplomas. This was the 1960s when America‘s top schools turned out the drives of young 20 something engineers who were the backbone of Apollo.

With Space, it isn’t „America First“; it is „humanity first“. If a large asteroid is about to strike earth and we have to relocate a few humans to Mars, we better hope Elon had been allowed to do his very best to get us there

He will hire experience. The new H1B engineers will backfill US companies and he will take the best from our research companies.

What do you say to the MAGA base which doesn't want that talent coming in here, especially if it's Muslim, Hispanic, or dark complexioned?

H1B is a mixed bag. Sometimes it is needed to backfill critical needs in the tech sector; but it has also been abused when companies use it to replace American IT workers in order to cut costs. See Disney and the time they flew in planeloads of Indian Programmers; forced their American programmers to train their replacements, and then fired them Disney H-1B Scandal in Spotlight Again: Meet The American Workers Whose Jobs and Careers Were Destroyed by the H-1B Program

They are cheaper, not better necessarily. You are also taking apples and oranges between IT workers and the people Musk will look for.
